Aaagh. Am leaving town Thursday, and texted with a former doggy day care employee who said he would watch the dog for me. He was supposed to come over yesterday to see the place (he said he’d have to stay here, as he moved and his current place doesn’t allow dogs) and called and said he’d gotten called into work (restaurant) because someone called in sick. Nbd, could he come over today? Sure. …he has not responded to any texts today. Like…do I need to panic and find someone else?? Ugh.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Yikes, meara! That is concerning. FWIW, I have found my dog sitters though Rover.com, not sure if they are big in your area, but I have found good sitters there.
I texted him again late last night saying “are we still on for dogsitting??” And he replied Yes….but didn’t say anything about why he hadn’t responded or when he’s going to come over or anything. Arrgh. I don’t want to pay $$$ for Rover (and someone my dog doesn’t know at all) but this is making me v concerned.
but this is making me v concerned
It's a bit anxiety provoking.
Matilda was driving me nuts being so slow getting out of the house this morning.
She's the queen of deflection. Every time I said (to her closed door): "You have to go now! You are already twenty minutes late. It's after 9!"
She replied: "I am literally leaving right now."
Narrator voice: "She was not in fact leaving."
After seven minutes of that she emerged from her room and she hadn't even put on her shoes yet! Aye caramba!
Six! Hours! Of! Meetings!
Days like these are when I wonder why I agreed to become a manager.
I tried to combat the switch-to-DST whatevers by getting up early and going to the gym before work. Which kinda worked but they didn't reset their clocks so it was ultimately maybe more confusing. Tangentially, it's weird that it's Daylight Savings Time during the period when we have more daylight in a day and are managing a surplus, as it were, isn't it? I don't mind that we take time from the morning in June, it's when it's still winter that I resent giving it up.
Good luck with the dogsitting, meara. I don't have any advice, all the options seem kinda fraught.
I have a dentist appointment at 3 (he's fixing a filling that he "doesn't feel he did his best work on" [I'm starting to think my dentist is a wee bit obsessive]) and an appointment with our financial planner at 7. Both of these things are objectively important things, but it's sunny and almost 70 and I just want to play outside.
I have a Drs appointment tomorrow. It's my quarterly yes I still need Vyvanse please refill it appointment . But I'm going to be like 'did you see my blood work and how it has improved?" . I'm also going to brag on my improved strength. I realized today that as much as all my muscles were aching from inventory prep/6 days working my knees didn't hurt at all. And they had been bothering me after some days.
That's excellent, askye!
Dentist appointment went fine and the filling is repaired (but now my mouth is a little sore), and the meeting with the financial planner went fine, so much adulting has been achieved. And I edited an article in starts and stops in between those 2 appointments. Now I think I'm going to make mashed potatoes for dinner. Or scrambled eggs. Something soft for my sore mouth.
