Can't any one of your damn little Scooby club at least try to remember that I hate you all?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

In some other good news, we've sold JZ's father's house.

After the fire, the insurance paid for fixing the roof and stripping it down to the studs. So we lost about 40% of the value of the property in the fire itself. BUT he had comprehensive insurance and so we'll make up basically the full expected value of the house when the insurance pays out. We know what they'll pay, they just haven't ponied up yet. (The money we lost in repairing the place we make up because all the furniture and items in the house will be worth more in insurance write-off than they ever would have been in an estate sale.)

Side note to gamers: the buyer was the CTO of Electronic Arts back in the day. He was the guy in charge of developing The Sims! (among many other things)

His wife is originally from San Francisco and she wanted to move back to the Bay Area, and she loved the view (which is spectacular - the entire Bay, San Francisco and both bridges). And they basically get to renovate the entire house to their liking. So in some ways that was not a deterrence.

We're happy to be selling to a family who will move in, instead of a flipper. Also, he's paying cash so it'll be neat and clean and done. So that's a huge thing off JZ and her brothers' shoulders.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is a great story, brenda!

That's good news about the house, David and JZ.

Back for more tv news: has anyone else watched Imposters? There's a conwoman who is currently going by Saffron, and that's got to be a Firefly homage, doesn't it??

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I don't know, but I'm definitely going to ask.

They have two youngish kids and they are already planning a big garden, so, as weird and painful as it is, they're also the best possible new owners to pass it along to: they love it already, and they seem like the kind of people who will love the things my dad loved about it. My aunt was warning me against posting pictures of the deer in the backyard to FB because it would drive down the value of the house, but I always thought that anyone who didn't think they were awesome wouldn't be the right person for it anyway.

Side note: The first night after the second dose, I had full-on fever and chills, and the next day I had to lie down and take three separate naps, but today everything feels completely fine.

This was my friend's experience with her second shot, as well. Not sure which she had.

information libertarian

In good news, Casper’s friend is going home from the psych ward tomorrow, much earlier than initially planned. In bad news, Casper is still lying to me about completing and turning in assignments, going so far as to turn in a blank document so the interface I can see showed it was turned in. I am so tired.

Oh, Casper. But, oh, I am so glad her friend is going home and that she's being a good true friend, which maybe matters more in the (very) long run than the homework though I'm sure that's not a convincing argument to her teachers.

Crisis averted!

Not ideal for a senior trying to graduate. HOWEVER, I will note that Emmett totally tanked his last semester in HS and almost lost his college admission and was going to be benched from his baseball team.

So. Let me just note that "going so far" is not an indication of her moral failing, or intent to deceive you but rather her desperation. She's having an executive function meltdown. She "can't even."

Her headspace is not ideal. Neither is mine.
