What you did to me was unbelievable, Connor. But then I got stuck in a hell dimension by my girlfriend one time for a hundred years, so three months under the ocean actually gave me perspective. Kind of a M.C. Escher perspective, but I did get time to think.

Oh, I find it particularly infuriating when companies make it difficult for you to give them money.

I got a bill from genetic testing (which is annoying because the doctor office said my insurance would cover it and if not it would be about $250…but somehow I owe almost $500 after insurance?) but the options it lists are send a check, or CALL THEM to pay by credit card. Like, what? What is this, the 1900s?? I’d expect a cutting edge genetics testing place to be able to take my payment whenever/wherever!

I'm a fucking amazing catch!--Fiona Gallagher, Shameless(US)

I'd *think* you could open their e-mail and blink.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

they want me to send a check

I pay my rent by check. I also have 80+ year old landlords who have only raised the rent $100 in 17 years, so I find the expense of a stamp totally worth it.

Our wings are not tired.

Most of my doctors pay by check, some handwritten checks and envelopes, which is nuts. I pay some things by check, but via bill pay where my bank writes the actual check.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

ltc probably has an ear infection. So, no school again today. She’s being seen by her pediatrician this afternoon.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, poor ltc, and poor you!

I pay my rent by check, and also my massage therapist and cleaning people -- it saves them the fees from paying with Venmo or whatever. Bring back checks!

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I think the only checks we've written in the past 12 months have all been to the contractor who basically redid our yard. Everything else is online.

As for mortgages, we bought this house in 2010, and I think we're on our 5th or 6th bank holding the loan now? And the last two have had needlessly cutesy names that I think they think sound more friendly and approachable, but I'm sorry, your calling yourself Mr. Cooper doesn't make you think you're some nice guy helping me get a house, and NewRez makes me think of the problems surrounding Indian reservations and Native American legal issues in general, not my house.

Of course, it's possible I just have a weird brain.

NewRez is a super weird name for that Susan, totally agree!!

I pay almost all my bills by bank electronic bill pay, a few I Venmo or Zelle (the cleaners, my dog daycare), I think only the one place I go for electrolysis only takes cash or check, so is the only place I’ve been using checks in forever!

{{ltc}} ear infections suck.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Susan, I make my mortgage payments to Shellpoint but they sometimes refer to themselves as NewRez and I'm so curious about both those names!

Last time I had to pay for something with a check it was easier to go to the post office and get a money order.
