Happy Birthday, shrift!
~ma to your dad (and you), Pix.
I can attest to the unexpected amount of happiness brought by decorative lights. I just put up a string of flickering solar lanterns in my Japanese maple, and am pleasantly surprised by how cute it looks. The charge only lasted a couple hours after sunset, but I'd rather have brighter, nicer-looking lights for a short time than longer-lasting unimpressive ones.
That sounds lovely, Matt.
Happy birthday, Shrift!
I have a cold. It’s not world ending, but it is annoying. I was able to take sick leave this afternoon, so I can slounge on the sofa and moan at the cats.
Hey folks, just another update. Pix's dad is responding to the antibiotics, but it's still really rough out there. I'm catching a flight out tomorrow to be with her for a few days.
I know that will be a huge help for emotional support, Drew.
I'm keeping all 3 of you in my thoughts, Drew and Pix.
My dad has a doctor appointment tomorrow for a check-up/lab work, but mostly to get a referral to a psychiatrist (or an inpatient stay in a psych unit), because he's having the same hallucinations again, along with some paranoia and hoarding (both of which are new). I'm going to his doctor appointment tomorrow because that's the only way to be sure that whatever the next step is, he does it.
That's heavy, Tep.
What she said, Drew and Pix.
Oh dear, Tep. Scary stuff.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! I found crepes at the grocery store, so for dinner, I made a savory crepe with ham, brie, arugula, and balsamic glaze. I shall experiment with other savory crepes in the coming days.

Happy birthday, shrift! (And your crepe sounds strangely familiar to me!)
I had the chance to spend some quality time with my 5-month-old grephew this evening, which I shall treasure, since he's on a plane to the east coast early tomorrow with his parents for an extended visit with the other side of the family. And I got to snuggle with my sister's dogs, which was nice, since my house is now sadly dogless.
Best wishes to all with illness in the family.
