Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Pix, I am so sorry that this all sucks so much and that there's just you in terms of family who can help at all.
(Which, despite having two siblings, I get on a visceral level that I am just unable to even go into if I want to function. Just know that I get it. I get it so hard, and I'm so sorry.)
Boy, I did not expect, when posting about being sick on FB, that I would get an anti-Covid-testing comment from a dude I knew in high school. What a fucking wanker. I mean, he was a fucking wanker in high school too, so that part isn't too surprising.
What a fucking wanker.
I saw that! What an idjit.
I am recovered from my cold and got up at 8, and out the door by 9:15 to go running for the first time in several days. Walked an extra mile to go by the cafe which has muffin sized frittatas, and bought six to take home so I can have heat-and-eat quick protein breakfast.
Loaded the dishwasher, scrubbed the pots, took a shower and now I'm ready to go out and do some errands on a longish walk which will make up for some of the sedentary days I've been spending over NYE/sick.
We'll take the tree down on Sunday/Monday as Matilda gets back to school. Then I've got visitors coming the weekend of the 12th (staying here) and 18th (Phil the Gambler and his gal Jennifer, staying elsewhere but undoubtedly posh). Probably sneak Cousin Nicole in for a few days now that her retail work schedule has eased up post-holidays.
A friend bought ~ 7 gajillion fairy lights for another friend’s birthday party, and then passed them out to people afterwards. So now I have some hyacinth forcing jars with fairy lights glowing in them, to make up for the lack of Christmas tree lights in the living room. It’s bringing me joy far beyond what I expected.
Status, my tummy: Today I have eaten half an apple, a cheese stick, several crackers, a scrambled egg, and a bite of toast. The toast, for some reason, was a no-go.
Just an update since Pix has not been on since earlier today. Her dad got moved back to the hospital. He's in rough shape, and she just got the news that he's septic. They are working on that now on top of other other issues. I'm in touch with her from here, and am getting ready to jump on the next flight if that's needed.
Thanks for updating us, Drew. I'm keeping Pix's dad (and Pix, of course!) in my thoughts.
Oh, man. Thanks for the update, Noise. Keeping y'all in my thoughts.
Glad to hear at least some food was good to go, Dana! WTH, toast, though?I rely on toast in those situations.
Yay for fairy light joy, Calli!
We were reminded by our managing director this morning (via email, he didn't come around and talk to me personally) that the new in-the-office-3-days-in-a-row schedule starts now. I am seeking the silver lining by leaving my laptop in the office and my leftovers in the fridge. Some of my co-workers are getting kinda messed up by the switch, though.
Thanks for the update, ND. Thinking of you both so much right now.
Fairy lights are pretty amazing, really. It’s remarkable how such a tiny simple thing can really help in the dark.
Dana, I hope you start feeling better soon! Glad you were able to keep something down.
I'm thinking of you, Pix, and your dad. {{hugs}}
