Yes, Hec. You've been thorough a hell lot.
WindSparrow, congrats!
Ceasefire is over here, for now. I guess we're back killing one another until Qatar and the US will tell us not to/this government will resign (I guess the war will continue for a while but at least there will be an achievable and acceptable end goal). I'm doing my part for the latter to happen as soon as possible.
They had said for days that the ceasefire would end, but it was something to have hope for a short time. I hope that the powers behind the scenes are still trying to make something happen more permanent.
Congrats, WindSparrow! Also, so lovely anytime we see you here.
I really do need to put in our reservation to visit.
Yes, this needs to happen. I'm checking the basketball schedule so I'll know when Brendon is available for a trip. Need some real hugs, not those insufficient virtual ones.
We're officially in Buy A Car This Weekend mode, and the sales associate emailed me this morning to tell me the specific car we wanted (2024 hybrid Corolla with the deluxe accessories package [heated seats, moonroof, etc]) already sold. Bah. We have to decide if we want to wait for another one of those to come in, or go with a hybrid Corolla with a less fancy package. I guess it'll depend on how long it will take for the fancier version to come in.
That's definitely a diamond-shoes-are-too-tight problem, though. It's just that the part of me that's still in my 30s (and 40s) and budgeting carefully can't quite believe we can buy a brand new car. But once we narrowed down what we wanted and looked at what's available, the difference between new and even a 1-year-old used car was $1K. And anything more than 1 year old had super high mileage. So a 2024 it is.
Adios, George Santos, or whatever your name is. We hardly knew ya, and really don't want to so much.
Buying a car is so stressful! Yet, in the end you have a new car.
a hybrid Corolla with a less fancy package
I think you might need to hold out for a butt-warmer! It'll make you happy in February.
Wow, Tep! Brand new car with fancy package is a big milestone!
I have to ask, are you getting a Black Friday deal? We kept seeing ads for BF sales at car dealerships while watching football on Thanksgiving and my dad wondered if those actually brought in customers
Also, from what I see in TV ads, all new cars delivered in December are supposed to come with giant red bows.

I do really want the heated seats. A lot.

I don't think so? We just browsed online.

We bought our current Corolla in December of 2015, and that dealer had one of those bows if people want to take a picture with it on their car. Which of course we did.
Non-car-related, I woke up with a migraine and require morphine so that my poor, pitiful self can survive until the Ubrelvy kicks in (she says, while continuing to stare at a computer screen because she is a ridiculous person). And yet there is no morphine. Woe.
And here I thought I might have escaped that... :D
Nope.
