I just went to the store and got to the checkout but couldnt find my bank card, ran home and checked every coat I've worn in the last week and it wasn't there. had to go back and only by the TP that was the main thing and paid with meager cash. not a good end of the day for me.
thank you all for listening
Ha! I put Emmett and Matilda in charge of making JZ's spanikopita, doing it as a joint Zoom call with the Portland fam.
I come down to put my dry brined turkey in the fridge down there and see the carton of eggs undisturbed.
"How many eggs did you put in the filling?"
"None. No eggs."
"Did you read the recipe?!! I showed you two recipes and both of them required three to five eggs. It's not going to hold together without the eggs!"
"Angela [Aunt in Portland] didn't put any eggs in it either!"
"It'll be fine!"- says Emmett.
[Narator's voice] "It will definitely not hold together without the eggs."
I told them about nineteen times to read both recipes before they started. They did not.
Worst case scenario is the filling will make a tasty hot cheesy spinach dip.
I roasted some veg and turkey wings and started the stock. And I'll do the mushrooms tonight and be way ahead of the game (I hope).
...then again, with the cleaning and food prep I'm kind of hitting the wall and want to
not.
I might be done for the day.
There's something to be said for just getting up at 7 on Thanksgiving and getting it all done.
I'm baking 2 pumpkin pies tonight (frozen crust is currently thawing) and then tomorrow morning we make the broccoli/cauliflower casserole and the dinner rolls. And don't forget the wine!
Pix is at home getting all ready for Thanksgiving while I'm down here doing year 20 of A Christmas Carol. I'll help put the house in order for guests tomorrow.
I made a... reservation yesterday, so all the prep work is done.
And we just ordered pizza because we don't feel like cooking anything else tonight.
I am not doing Thanksgiving until Friday but figure I need to hit the grocery store today?
I was planning to go dancing but am not sure how it’s only 630! I stopped work around 3, walked the dog, had the friend who is house sitting come over and we gabbed for a long time, and now it feels like surely it’s 8pm. Will I make it off the couch to dancing which starts at 8pm? ….doubtful.
Shir I hope the ceasefire works out.

Pretty sure I heard somewhere that the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week is right up there with Super Bowl Sunday in pizza sales.
We're mostly having a lovely time in Mexico, except that Dylan is having knee pain issues. (Unsure what exactly--he's going to see the doctor once we're back home.) Fortunately this isn't the kind of place with CAN'T MISS SIGHTS! or MAJOR MUSEUMS! and I'm honestly perfectly happy just to sit by the pool or in our air conditioned cottage and enjoy the fact I'm not at work, nor surrounded by everything that needs to get done around the house.
