No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Our cats aren't too fussy about their food.(Especially Nova, who will also try to snag our food if it's not well defended.) We've been giving them the same type of kibble for years, and the wet food brand is the same also.

I got another letter from the IRS yesterday. It said that they received my amended return (submitted over a month ago) and that they'll review and respond within 90 days. Thanks to USPS Informed Delivery, I once again got to flip out like a mammal while I waited for the mail to arrive.

Since I'm not going to Michigan for Thanksgiving, I bought some turkey thighs to roast and will make an attempt at gravy. If it doesn't turn out, I'm the only one who will be disappointed so at least it's not going to be "The Thanksgiving of Mom's Disapproval" up in here.

We weren't planning to cook anything special, but we're going to eat over Zoom with the family, and cereal doesn't seem quite the thing.

Thrive to spite them

M is cooking thanksgiving dinner. I asked if he had a plan for the turkey breast "put it in a pan, cook it" ok. He doesn't follow recipes at all just cooks stuff and sometimes it's good and sometimes it's.. creative. Tonight's dinner is a pork tenderloin that is currently in a glass 9x 13 dish and completely surrounded by sliced veggies with a layer of collard greens on top , some chicken broth and then I think it's covered in foil. The pork tenderloin has been marinated in "stuff".. what stuff? Well, ginger beer and "I lost track so I can't really tell you"

I'm not pulling out all the stops, just turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, and whatever veg I have in the fridge. I'm not going to bother with dressing, pie, or any other traditional side dishes.

I asked if he had a plan for the turkey breast "put it in a pan, cook it" ok.

Oh dear. I hope it turns out good this time for your sake.

hip deep in pie

Thanks for all the ~ma everyone. I found a lump in my right breast about 3-4 weeks ago. I already had an in-person doctor's appt for last week...we've been doing phone appointments since COVID, so I waited for that. But I was really impressed with the speed of all this. Even though I needed a referral, I had an appointment for today by the next day and my doctor called me with the results about two hours after my test. And although all the characteristics of the lump pointed to benign, I was still shitting a brick today. So I am breathing out in a big way tonight.

OTOH, Halifax has been put in a mini lockdown because after months of v few cases, there's been a spike--mainly spread through bars. We only have 57 cases...but they're trying to stop it before it gets bad. Christmas with the family is not looking good.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Sue, hooray for the fatty lipoma!

Does anyone have suggestions for what to use up FSA spending on? We didn't keep track of it (and I didn't realize quite how much Tim was having deducted every month), so we have quite a bit to go through. So far we have: glasses (multiple pairs) for both of us, stock up on OTC meds, new electric toothbrush. Any other ideas?

Do you have a pulse oximeter? I feel like maybe you do. We also bought an otoscope years ago that's surprisingly useful.

I once saw a cartoon with a rather bleary-eyed woman and two cats. One cat says to the other, "I love breakfast. You never know if you're going to get Kitty Bits or chunk white tuna in spring water." (or words to that effect)

Ha!

He doesn't follow recipes at all just cooks stuff and sometimes it's good and sometimes it's.. creative.

This is my DP, too. It's actually good more often than not, but he likes his food much spicier than I do, so he usually tries to tame it down... but it often doesn't quite work for me. But, since he's working full-time from home again, and I am fully mobile again, I've taken over the cooking, muwah-ha-ha. It's actually been quite fun. I have a database of dinners -- mainly to track/link to recipes we like and make notes about what worked or what didn't.
