Wesley: Feng Shui. Gunn: Right. What's that mean again? Wesley: That people will believe anything. Actually, in this place, Feng Shui will probably have enormous significance. I'll align my furniture the wrong way and suddenly catch fire or turn into a pudding.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

May it be a quiet night, Shir.

Review of Frexel Laser Resurfacing: That fuckin' hurt.

But it's already calming down and doesn't look any worse than the kind of sunburn I used to get being out on the water all day growing up in Florida.

Which, not coincidentally, is why they need to tend to the precancerous cells and sun damage of my fair skinned Floridian youth.

As Emmett used to say with acute understatement: That was undelightful.

Worse, I have to get the same procedure done again in a month. Though she was kind enough to schedule it after Thanksgiving.

But I am going over to a friend's Oktoberfest for brats and beer tonight.

And tomorrow Jes and I will go see the Misfit Cabaret's Halloween show: [link]

The Universe needs to go in for a humble after the way it's been treating you and yours, Hecubus.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The pain has subsided with the help of Ibuprofen and two Boulevardiers.

Waiting for my friend Michelle to collect me and take me to a backyard Oktoberfest brats and beers.

It's good to know for the next go 'round with this procedure that the pain subsides fairly quickly.

But I've definitely had a fair amount of Quite Painful Procedures this year on top of all the other loss and stress.

Glad you feel like going out, even if I prefer Polish dogs. ETA: I had a strange dream that JZ was in this morning.

Now tagless for your comfort.

If I could go back and warn my younger self of anything, I'd tell myself to 1) floss 2) wear sunscreen and 3) don't feel so guilty about all the sex.

I am enjoying a Pumpkin Spice White Russian. Or a second one. And rewatching OFMD.

Got my Covid and Shingles vaccinations tonight. I suspect it'll be a light weekend.

I would definitely tell myself GET TO A DENTIST BEFORE THAT CAVITY GETS TOO BIG TO FILL. Stupid root canal going bad has cost me so much $$$ and frustration.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I hope the recover is easy, David, and that the next one is the last one at least for a while.

Shir, those watershed moments are so hard. And all the ones that come after. Continuing to be glad to see your pixels and witness as you process what you’re experiencing.

Bad insomnia last night. Had a lot of muscle tension from scraping lead paint for 40 hrs this week. I will frequently place a hand anywhere I am feeling a lot of tension, or think I am, and doing that last night something was going on last night where I felt nauseated and like I might faint. Don’t know if a nerve was pinched or what.

New potential roommate coming over in less than an hour. All digits crossed this works out. Hoping she’ll be willing to pay more than half in exchange for having play to self 90% of the time.

What are people up to this weekend? Spooky fun?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

ltc burst into tears when I came in the house with my new haircut last night. Apparently I’m not mommy if I can’t put my hair in a messy bun.

Because books.

Aw, sj, that's sweet. But she'll adapt. And I saw the picture and it looks great!

David, that sounds definitely Undelightful. Hope the next part goes easy on you.

smonster, that is a lot of lead paint. Ouch.

Shir, thank you for being willing to share this experience with us, even if we all wish it could be a less horrific one.

Shoulder surgery bites, and the recovery really sucks. I'm still stuck in this sling (24/7 except when showering or dressing, and yes keeping it on to sleep) for three more weeks. Going mildly stir-crazy here.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oh, Amy, much recovery~ma, and health~ma in general to all buffistas.

I'm OK. A bit tired, as usual. A part of me is even starting to get used to this, somehow - or maybe it's the shock that's letting go. I thoroughly cleaned the house today, and soon it'll be shower time.

People, let me tell you about showers here. When there's a siren you have 15-90 seconds to get to shelter, depends where you are (I'm in the luxurious 90 seconds zone). There are several ways to handle this. Some people started to wash body parts separately in less time to be at least semi dressed. But my favorite response is from people who are trying to use statistics to understand when it's safer to take a shower. Out of that came a whole theology of "don't shower at xx:00", including graphs and what not. It's a whole thing.

It's been two weeks. There are still names and bodies being identified and funerals, after two weeks. And the Israeli media doesn't report what we're doing in Gaza to a point that worries me. If there's a mention, it's a minor one. People don't get the picture.
