Yay vaccine for dad of Tep!
According to my mom, the vaccine rollout has been wildly inconsistent around here, with some areas having extra doses (possibly due to people choosing not to get it, possibly just because the distribution was wack) to make available to the next tier. She said signing up for her appointment was like trying to buy concert tickets for a popular show. She had to sit on my dad and force him to keep going until he got an appointment, he does not do well with the "sorry, that date is no longer available" messages. I haven't heard yet that my brother that works in the care facility has gotten his, and I think he would say, so that's a little troubling. Everyone else I would know about is further down in the chart, I think.
The TVs in the various meeting rooms were all turned to the Inauguration so I got glimpses as I went about my work. The longest I could watch was actually Trump departing the WH, which was sufficiently satisfying. What a dumpster fire of an executive branch that was.
The only good thing I can imagine coming out of this is that we can use it as a Dread Example whenever somebody says something along the lines of "How bad could [Candidate X] be anyway?"
My sister was supposed to get her first shot a week ago this past Monday, but they didn't have enough vaccine.
NEWSFLASH: I ordered way too much food. Tasty, though. And will be good cold, I'm sure.
I have slightly weird tasting homemade Inauguration Brownies at the moment. I kind of want to order out, but I kind of have a roast de-thawed in the fridge.
My anxiety waned as the day went on. Poet Amanda was wonderful.
Timelies all!
Other than watching the Inauguration on tv, no celebrations planned here.
I didn't think to defrost the mahi-mahi in my freezer in time to make a celebratory meal tonight. Suppose I'll order out, and wash whatever the meal is down with blood orange soda to toast Twitler's long-overdue departure.
I'm feeling really tired. Kind of like 4+ years of tension have started to ease and the muscles involved are saying, "we're done for now, thanks."
We had the last session of an ongoing game today since all the players are federal employees and had the day off...which means I have to get in 8 hours of work starting now, I guess. Just knowing the inauguration was happening was a balm to my soul.
