supplements
Last year, when I reported leg and arm cramps to my PCP, he had me start taking 400mg of OTC magnesium, and that has helped a lot.
Last month, my nephrologist expressed concern about my ongoing slight anemia and low vitamin D level, so I've doubled my OTC multivitamin (pharmacy brand that duplicates what is in Centrum Silver) and started taking an OTC iron supplement. Next blood draw is the day before Halloween ("All doctors are wampires." -- Pavel Chekov) and I am curious to see if the change has made any difference.
When my doctor was going over my most recent labs (which is when we discovered I have mild anemia), she immediately said,
"This means iron supplements, not going and feasting on the villagers".
It's like she knows me or something.
Yeah, I'm slightly anemic, too, so we're trying extra B12, which was low, and folate (though I'm not sure that's related -- it was just low).
My Vit D is abysmal as it is fat metabolized or whatever, and I don't really metabolized fat anymore after losing so much and specific parts of my entrails. Might be going to injections for that.
My understanding is that one needs Vitamin K to go with any Vitamin D.

Hi, Gud.
Karl, solidarity and a little redistribution for you, babe.
Dental cleaning kind of made my shoulders and back hurt. Got the intense hygienist this time.
smonster, hope your thing turned out all right.
Last meeting of the day is over. Not seeing much point in trying to do actual work at this point...
Shur and Nilly - we will worry over you and appreciate your check ins.
gud! Dude, it's good to see you pixels!
Supplements: low D so take the supplement, take the Magnesium and Potassium and it helps with the charly horses.
Extra B-12, multi-vite and B-multi.
I'm still alive so they must be working.
Your gut microbiome likes fiber! Whole fruits and veggies.
Hey guys, have a Meara:
Gud it's always good to hear from you and I'm betting you've been around more than I have recently.
Go smonster! Hang on to that empowerment!
DavidS, have a virtual shoulder-squeeze for everything you're going through.
Nilly, Shir, it's always good to hear from you and know you're OK, even if you can only drop in for a moment.
Timelies!
Poking my head for a moment to update that, yes, we're still as OK as possible under the circumstances, here. Where I live may be one of the very few places left in Israel to not have alarms yet (we had a false not-really-alarm last evening, so we later referred to it as a "dress rehearsal" to see that we know what to do and that the kids know what to do and how to do it).
Thank you so much for being here, and for being an island of good people doing everyday good deeds. It means so much to have this place where the world still makes sense.
