As for me, I have four young men staying with me for the music festival this weekend. They seem nice, but I was surprised they were arriving today, including two on the red-eye this morning. Luckily, I was basically ready so all I had to do last night was make up the bed and clean the toilet. And I woke up this morning right as they were arriving.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Oops Jesse, glad it got figured out before they rocked up early in the morning!! (Though now I’m like “ooh four young men eh?” And then realizing we are old and that young might mean a looooot younger in an ick way. When did we get so old??)
They are real young, and I am very old!
I found out when they were coming on Tuesday, I think, which is not terrible, but I had sort of organized my life around final preparations on Friday! Ah well, more time to try out outfits. I also realized in time that having a massage at home tomorrow afternoon is not ideal, as even if they aren't there, the air mattress is basically where the massage table usually goes! So rescheduled that, too, and everything is working out perfectly.
That sounds so great, Susan!
Hi Sue! Hi new laptop!
Way to roll with entertaining four young gentlemen callers on the fly, Jesse.
I got the $27 nachos for lunch. I was in back to back meetings all morning and by the time I could think about getting something to eat, finding out what they are like seemed like a good reason to get them. They don't look huge, but they are heavy and dense and I've eaten maybe a quarter of them and am very full. Did get through more of the guac on the side. I would guess the chips are handmade and they are really good, and there is just a lot of all the other ingredients - beans and cheese and steak and whatever - so it probably adds up to an okay value without being chichi or precious. We'll see how they do as leftovers. Probably won't become a regular meal for me, but now I know what to expect.
Oh, now I want nachos for dinner. We have tortilla chips, guac, salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese, olives, pulled pork for my serving -- I think this can happen!
Last night I was googling the nachos of my college era. Nostalgia and all. But I don't remember enough about them (re: old) to even try recreating them. I need a time machine.
In short: Procrastination is your friend.
We rode on the ski lift to check out the glorious colors from the mountain top. Super beautiful.
That unplanned half hour of walking the narrow, rocky beach, watching birds, and just being in the beauty of the world was one of the best moments I've had in a long, long time.

Everyone is making excellent choices and I am here for it!
Go Tep! Nachos FTW
Nachos will validate a lot of your life choices.
I did shit today!
Got my stitches out. Unfortunately the chest scar looks kind of gnaly with a keloid. Boo. I expect I'll get laser-ized in future for that.
More importantly, I got FOUR things in the mail! Important documents that had to be signed! I signed them! I sent them Certified Mail WITH paper receipt! So many handwritten addresses. So tedious.
Two other things went out Priority Mail. Also making pathetic noises to financial services assistant, Angie, lead to her expediting the Sept and Oct trust payments which were held up by JZ's passing.
I put some extra money in Matilda's account and told her to take the teenagers to Target to get them some sneakers. Their grandmother kicked them out of the house without shoes. The baseball coach (Matilda's coach) bought them some slides, but they really need actual shoes.
Also, I'm going to leverage the proximity to my friend, Jes the Artist, and we're meeting at a French/Italian bistro mid point between our already walkable homes, to get an Aperol Sprtiz and a salad or something.
It's hot as balls here in SF's traditional Indian Summer. 91! Caramba. We're not built for this. Yay, proximity!
Timelies all!
Yay for getting shit done, David!
Got my flu shot today. Arm’s a bit sore, but so far that’s it.
