"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

My parents' dog, who has been on fancy refrigerated food (to avoid colitis) for years, suddenly stopped eating. She used to yell at you to feed her and then snarf the food as fast as she could.

The vet eventually recommended that they try a *different* fancy refrigerated food, which the dog immediately began snarfing.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Unlike some cats, which will snarf down a specific food (and ONLY that food) only to reject it the next day. And, yes, it's always whatever's most expensive or hardest to find. Or requires some specific people food to be added. (why, yes, I grew up with cats ... why do you ask?)

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

I once saw a cartoon with a rather bleary-eyed woman and two cats. One cat says to the other, "I love breakfast. You never know if you're going to get Kitty Bits or chunk white tuna in spring water." (or words to that effect)

Ha! Yeah.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Sometimes suppliers change the food factory recipe on the cat/dog food without making any changes in the label, and with their sharper senses, the animals can tell this is Not Right.

Thrive to spite them

Yay for negative tests!

Penny will try and steal Cheez its and she will also eat the stale ones. I try to keep her from them but she can find the lone one.

Had my dentist appointment today. They were not wearing face shields but were wearing masks, gloves, and gowns (gloves over the cuffs of the gowns). I had to answer extensive questions before I could go in including: have I travelled by bus, or plane, have I been out of state , which I just realized I said no to even though I had to travel to NC from SC for the appointment. Um, oops. Damn. But I also had to gargle with Listerine for 30 seconds before they started the cleaning.

They are recommending 30 second swishing/gargle of Listerine or 60 second of other mouthwash every day as studies have shown it kills covid germs. I use listerine just not 30 seconds of swishing.

Saw Mom. We had lunch..in her house. Which I didn't feel super comfortable with but it was too cold to eat outside. I masked up right away but mom was slow to mask up. I'm worried that she isn't wearing a mask out.

I won't be seeing her on Thanksgiving and probably won't be going in her house after this for awhile (I haven't told her that) but if I'm not too tired I might drive up and take her a plate of food. Maybe.

I worry about Mom because she''s not moving around well. she hasn't been exercising at all. I really need to buckle down and Skype her on my days off and see if she wants to do an exercise routine together over skype to motivate both of us. But she has gotten more of her stuff unpacked and the duplex she is renting is looking more like hers.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Our cats aren't too fussy about their food.(Especially Nova, who will also try to snag our food if it's not well defended.) We've been giving them the same type of kibble for years, and the wet food brand is the same also.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I got another letter from the IRS yesterday. It said that they received my amended return (submitted over a month ago) and that they'll review and respond within 90 days. Thanks to USPS Informed Delivery, I once again got to flip out like a mammal while I waited for the mail to arrive.

Since I'm not going to Michigan for Thanksgiving, I bought some turkey thighs to roast and will make an attempt at gravy. If it doesn't turn out, I'm the only one who will be disappointed so at least it's not going to be "The Thanksgiving of Mom's Disapproval" up in here.

We weren't planning to cook anything special, but we're going to eat over Zoom with the family, and cereal doesn't seem quite the thing.

Thrive to spite them

M is cooking thanksgiving dinner. I asked if he had a plan for the turkey breast "put it in a pan, cook it" ok. He doesn't follow recipes at all just cooks stuff and sometimes it's good and sometimes it's.. creative. Tonight's dinner is a pork tenderloin that is currently in a glass 9x 13 dish and completely surrounded by sliced veggies with a layer of collard greens on top , some chicken broth and then I think it's covered in foil. The pork tenderloin has been marinated in "stuff".. what stuff? Well, ginger beer and "I lost track so I can't really tell you"
