Gabriel: Are you trying to destroy this family? Simon: I didn't realize it would be so easy.

'Safe'

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So now I feel special.

I can personally vouch for this.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I got my updated covid shot today, just in time for my new immunity to kick in before my trip to Georgia next month to visit family/have a personal writing and general relaxation retreat in the mountains near the NC border/go to a con that looks to have a lot of writing-related workshops.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Hadestown tonight. I think I cried discreetly.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Experience suggests that everyone else was also crying discreetly and likely did not notice.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My head-wound was hurting and I took Ibuprofen and thought, "Well, that will help."

But it didn't help enough. And it took me two hours to remember their main advisory: Ice it.

Which helped.

This is why the patient shouldn't have to look after themself.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I’m glad Sweeney Todd was good.

I’m holding off on my COVID and flu shots for a couple more weeks. I figure I should ride the post-COVID immunity a little longer and get the most effective versions of the flu vaccine. I understand that tends to get fine tuned a bit over autumn.

Joining those doing things that interest them, I signed up for a presentation from my local art museum on the Etruscans. They’re less well known than the classical Romans, but what I’ve heard sounds neat.

Now I want a fancy sandwich. My favorite bahn mi place let me down last time, so I’m not sure if I’ll realize that desire today.

Our wings are not tired.

This is why the patient shouldn't have to look after themself.

I hope the wound is better this morning and that you were able to get some rest.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Hadestown is phenomenal, and makes me cry every time (ok, twice, because Broadway is expensive, but still impressive for a story so thoroughly spoiled that the narrator reminds you that you already know the ending in the opening number).

How was the new Persephone?

They were great. We had an understudy for Euridicye and they were also great. I was least interested in Orpheus, which may be baked into the show, but that's a hard part to sing.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ooh, I am fascinated by the Etruscans! Good one, Calli!

I submitted my time card and saw that my vacation pay out was, uh, paid. I feel like actually getting out of bed and doing work is unnecessary at this point. It’s not, but it feels like it should be.
