So there is something I can do, besides scream like a woman?

Punishingly Intricate

Eh maybe she thought better of it?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Arcadia is one of my (and my mother's) favourite plays; I have wonderful memories of reading it out loud with her -- good homemade fun.

I've read it, and it looked like it would be amazing to see live.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I can hear thunder rumbling outside. I hope it doesn’t knock out the Wi-Fi like it did last night.

It is my favorite play as well. I saw it performed in probably 1998 and it stuck It is really beautiful and what plays are meant to be.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Travel today was relatively straightforward. My phone lead the way, and while I did have to white knuckle it a bit in rush hour traffic in a new-to-me SUV I managed to arrive exactly at my sister's cabin at this retreat even though the last two roads were gravel.

She was very happy to see me and rallied to talk and cuddle with me and when she got tired just listen to me. And my niece was also very happy to have me there. Plus surprise nephew who I had not seen since he was a little poot running around our wedding with Emmett.

It was arduous but really the right choice, as I think they all needed to see me, and I needed to see her. So I've got all day tomorrow and then I drive back to Atlanta on Sunday and catch my flight home.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I hope school is going okay for Matilda. The whole internet is rooting for her. (okay, only us, but we're the only people that matter.)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Also tried to make “grief” into “Greif” which is insane troll logic as I haven’t worked with that troll in decades.

Oh! I physically recoiled.

dcp, I hope the rest of your quarantine is restful.

David, it sounds like your visit is doing everyone some good. I'm glad.

I think so. She managed to get her acne under control before picture day, and sent me a preview shot. She had asked permission to leave school early any day this week if she was feeling stressed, but she didn't need to take a break. She also got in an extra session with her therapist this week yesterday.

I think that once she gets over the initial phase school will be a haven for her.

JZ's friend, Lisa, slept over with Matilda last night, and took her out to dinner at Japantown.

Jacqueline's Sacred Circle of Women (and G&T Club) has continued to step up for Matilda as each one of them has made plans with her, and become texting buddies.

I'm glad I came to Georgia but I'm also glad I'm keeping this trip short. I'm not ready to be on another deathwatch. It's mostly going to fall to my niece, Crystal, and my sister's friend, Amy. Amy is an OB/GYN who actually delivered Crystal when she was born. She lives in Australia now and flew out to assist Crystal and basically help as a death doula.

Judy has worked for the last umpty years as a counselor at a New Age retreat here in North Georgia, and the owners let her stay for free in one of the cabins for visitors. Crystal, Amy and I are staying at The Barn which was a regular barn but has been renovated completely into a posh/rustic B&B type place.

Last night Crystal and I plopped on the couch and watched Big Mouth, and her two sons, Gavin and Karson came over. I haven't seen Gavin since he was about 8 (he's mid 20s now) and never met Karson. So reconnecting with the whole family.

My nephew Chris is here too, and I met his new wife, Madaline, and his son Brandon. It is weird to me that Chris is already a grandfather. Which means I'm a Grand Uncle, or Grunkle if you're a fan of Gravity Falls.

Our wings are not tired.

Good to hear you are enjoying family time. Yes, a short visit is good, despite the travel annoyances. I'm sure you don't want to stay away from Matilda and Emmett for any longer, but you would regret not taking this time.
