Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I dressed as Mrs Roper for Halloween a few years back and felt like a genius for getting away with swanning around in a caftan at work. Did not love the wig, though.

Why exactly I feel like caftans are not professional I'm not sure. Are they? They are not mentioned in the dress code, I don't think.

David I wish these petty bullshit annoyances were smoothed out for you. A pox on the house of the car rental outfit for sure.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

The bad news is that I have covid. Symptoms started Monday afternoon.

The good news is that it seems to be a pretty mild case. No rales since the first day. No fever since the second day. No change in taste or odor perception. Fatigue was bad on the third day, but hasn't been a problem since. No sore throat. No blocked nasal passages. OTC cold meds are doing pretty well at keeping my coughing to a minimum.

My larder is stocked well enough to last me easily through two weeks' isolation. Which is ironic, because I probably picked this up at the grocery store -- it's the only place I've been in contact with people for several weeks.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry, dcp. I hope it passes quickly.

Oh, boo, dcp, though I am heartened to hear it sounds mild and that you're well-stocked.

David, I hope you're getting some good time with your sister. So much right now.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Bummer, dcp. I hope it clears quickly.

David, I hope today's travels go more smoothly than yesterday's.

I just finished making plans for my birthday next month. A localish theater company is performing Stoppard's Arcadia over that time, so I got tickets for myself and a couple of friends. It's about 45 minutes away, which isn't that much, but I missed out on my usual Labor Day vacation. So I decided to get a hotel for the night and check out a museum or two that afternoon. My friends will be meeting me for cocktails and dinner before the show. It all feels very grownup and indulgent. I'm looking forward to it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sorry to hear it, dcp!

That sounds very nice, Calli.

{{dcp}}} I hope it continues mild and I'm glad you are stocked up

That sounds great, Calli!

I just requested a payout of two weeks of vacation time, which will essentially give me an extra paycheck. It'll be nice to have the money, but I do regret not taking the time off at some point. I have plans for a couple days off in October for the annular eclipse, and actually put time off on the calendar for February (my birthday is the Sunday before Mardi Gras and I am toying with the idea of going to NOLA for it, although I am also thinking I might enjoy visiting at another less raucous and probably less expensive time more? Either way, I have the time off on the books) and even with planning another week off for the Great American Eclipse or whatever it's called I will have enough vacation time accrued to do my month long train trip late spring. So that's all good.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Calli, Arcadia is one of my (and my mother's) favourite plays; I have wonderful memories of reading it out loud with her -- good homemade fun. I hope you enjoy the production.

Always Anti-fascist!

I never get to see things like that anymore....I don't know that one, forgive my ignorance. Hey, Karl, I'd say "How's it hanging?" but maybe that should move to Bitches and stuff. My weekend is totally full of zoom. (I would be bragging about being double-booked on Saturday, except it's all politics-geek stuff. But I still wish I could be on both.)
