"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I saw what I can only assume was a 5th grader walking into the school this morning with an iced coffee looking way more world weary than any tweenager should ever look.

Our wings are not tired.

Traffic~ma, David. Also, I hope the visit with your sister isn't too hard. It of course will be hard, but you know that. Much love.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

David, I hope the rest of your day is going OK. I can't believe how much you have to deal with right now, I'm so sorry.

There is a caftan on sale on Amazon today. [link]

I was telling TCG about the corsets to caftan’s conversation, and he asked me if I was going to start dressing like Mrs Roper with a slightly horrified tinge to his voice. I assured him I was not. Although, I’m not sure why he thinks that is worse than the yoga pants and geeky tshirts I wear most of the time.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I dressed as Mrs Roper for Halloween a few years back and felt like a genius for getting away with swanning around in a caftan at work. Did not love the wig, though.

Why exactly I feel like caftans are not professional I'm not sure. Are they? They are not mentioned in the dress code, I don't think.

David I wish these petty bullshit annoyances were smoothed out for you. A pox on the house of the car rental outfit for sure.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

The bad news is that I have covid. Symptoms started Monday afternoon.

The good news is that it seems to be a pretty mild case. No rales since the first day. No fever since the second day. No change in taste or odor perception. Fatigue was bad on the third day, but hasn't been a problem since. No sore throat. No blocked nasal passages. OTC cold meds are doing pretty well at keeping my coughing to a minimum.

My larder is stocked well enough to last me easily through two weeks' isolation. Which is ironic, because I probably picked this up at the grocery store -- it's the only place I've been in contact with people for several weeks.

I'm sorry, dcp. I hope it passes quickly.

Oh, boo, dcp, though I am heartened to hear it sounds mild and that you're well-stocked.

David, I hope you're getting some good time with your sister. So much right now.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Bummer, dcp. I hope it clears quickly.

David, I hope today's travels go more smoothly than yesterday's.

I just finished making plans for my birthday next month. A localish theater company is performing Stoppard's Arcadia over that time, so I got tickets for myself and a couple of friends. It's about 45 minutes away, which isn't that much, but I missed out on my usual Labor Day vacation. So I decided to get a hotel for the night and check out a museum or two that afternoon. My friends will be meeting me for cocktails and dinner before the show. It all feels very grownup and indulgent. I'm looking forward to it.

Sorry to hear it, dcp!

That sounds very nice, Calli.
