"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I've told a friend before (unintentionally) that the lurkers support them in email.

Note to self: check to see if a phrase on Buffistas is an American pop culture thing or an internal Buffistas lingo before trying it with non-Buffistas.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That tile is lovely. And star patterns were huge in the late 1950s, due to the popularity of the space race. I think an argument could be made for that being at least mid-century modern adjacent.

Punishingly Intricate

Yeah, what Calli said! That tile is beautiful and you should go for it!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

This morning ltc was so excited to tell me one of the kids in her class wears a leg brace. She’s such a sweetie.

That tile is awesome, Susan.

Our wings are not tired.

Tile is a great choice.

Aww, ltc is indeed a sweetie. I can see her being excited to tell you.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I love that tile. Good luck with everything!

Several schools in the area are closed today because of the heat, which is a first for this area, but ltc very happily still has school today. I overdid it a bit yesterday. So I think I’ll spend today looking through the stacks of magazines that need to be dealt with anyway.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I hope TomW and flea had excellent birthdays! Yesterday was one of those days when I kept starting posts and then having to go off and do something else and never actually posting them, so I don't think I got my birthday wishes onto the board...

Today is meeting after meeting all morning and into the afternoon so I probably won't even get to start posts and abandon them after this one

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

I don't have any caftans specifically, but I do have closet full of cotton dresses with pockets (pretty much all like these) that meet the comfiness requirements. Also some flowy sleeveless summer tunics. The trick is wearing them with cotton shorts (ideally also with pockets) so that neither chub rub nor indiscreet sitting get in the way of an otherwise delightful outfit.

And I also think Edgefield (outside PDX) would be a great location for a F2F. Not only because it's close enough that I could bring a cat (or two) for visits, but mostly because it's essentially a resort with multiple restaurants, more bars than you can find without a map, a hotel, hostel rooms, a soaking pool, and endless areas for wandering should one need to get away from other humans. Annual pickathon is on the grounds and that features three stages, so that might give an idea as to the acreage one might wander, should one need to go a walking. Best to avoid summer, though, the summer concert series (June-September) invites crowds on weekends. But maybe now enough folks are out of school/teaching that a shoulder season F2F might actually work? October is delightful around here, as is May. And I can drive shuttles to/from the airport. Just sayin ;)
