So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The mood here is so much lighter. There was a lot of laughter, and crying. But it was so good. A release for all the people who did the emotional labor.

I am glad beyond words.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oh David, Matilda, Emmett. This is all too much. David, I am so sorry to hear about your sister.

I have a lot of feelings but I still don't have a lot of words, so I'll repeate the offer to send religious items from the Old City of Jerusalem to anyone who might want them.

Also, Consuela is very smart.

I love y'all.

I’m so glad. It’s going to be a long rollercoaster ride now, with all that metaphor implies. We are here for the highs and the lows, the screams and the laughter.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

What javachik, Consuela, and everyone else has said.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I was reading along, and I saw the west coasters and then Nilly and Shir.

I had an immediate sense memory of being “morning shift” every day and that Nilly and Shir were “night shift”. Again, memory is such a tricky thing, so I don’t know if it is real. So I wanted to say, “Good Morning, morning shift”. And then I got sad, because I think morning shift was also Ed. (And the Atlantic Canadians, the New Yorkistas and the Bostonians and Baltimoreans, maybe Floridians and Dcers)

And this makes it seems like a vigil.

And it made me happy, too, the memory of that time, and what a beautiful community we built.

David, I am so glad that Lisa et als came and made some lightness. I am glad for you to travel to see your sister, and so sorry that this is compounded. And I am sorry that you have to be the glue holding it together, but I am glad that you can. Please take this space to vent.

Ah Sophia, I also got up this morning and checked in to see how the night went. Morning shift reporting!

Because, JZ's bestie Lisa came in and the mood shifted, and the Sacred Circle of Loving Women started drinking and crying and laughing and wearing Jacqueline's hats and...it's what we needed. It's what Matilda needed especially.

I'm so happy for Lisa and the Sacred Circle.

Hello, morning shift. :: hugs ::

I was planning to check a cocktail festival today. I'm a mocktail person, but I think that after yesterday I'll need to raise a toast for and on behalf of JZ.

Swouncing

I had an immediate sense memory of being “morning shift” every day and that Nilly and Shir were “night shift”.

When I was doing my MA and PhD, so long ago that it seems like I had to draw my dissertaion graphs on the walls of the caves we cavepeople lived in back then, and Smartphones were not invented yet, and I only had internet access at my university's computer and not at home.

So in my morning, when I got to my university computer, I got to say "Timelies" to the night shift of the West Coast. And then I used to threadsuck and play catch-up (um, or skim. Or skip and skim. Sometime even skip altogether, but still) whenever I had to wait for a simulation to compile or get its results or the like, I could sneak a couple of minutes on the board.

And by the time it was early afternoon in my timezone, I got to say "Timeles" to the East Coast morning shift.

Oh, and at times, people who could not sleep would pop on the board, and I was always grateful that my timezone could make them realize that they're not awake alone and not everybody else is sleeping.

And it made me happy, too, the memory of that time, and what a beautiful community we built.

Yes, so much this.

[Edit: Shir, I can't remember when we posted together!]

Shir, I can't remember when we posted together!

Me neither! Thanks, long COVID!

But yes, I remember the "who's with insomnia today?" game. And understanding that it is way too late for me to be awake if West Coast folks are starting to post on what they had for lunch.

Hi morning and night shift peeps! For me, too, it was before the smart phone. I would get to work early to log on and see the tail end of Nilly and Shir and start the morning. If my day was busy, sometimes I would PRINT the board to read at my second job!

While I love that the phone means I am connected to you always, I don’t post as much and I am not connected back channel as much, so I read and think connecty thoughts.
