I had a dream last night that Hec wanted me to send JZ's mom(whom I only halfway, Facebook know) a message of some sort. It didn't work, but the feeling was real enough I almost sent something this morning.
'Our Mrs. Reynolds'
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Although maybe talking about your crazy friend in the desert might be distracting!
Sheryl, very sorry to hear about the flood. May it resolve quickly.
smonster, it was a delight to read your update. Much love to you and your person.
Matt, happy to read about your updates as well. Continued health~ma.
JZ, David, all of the people who surround you right now, us - I'm keeping all of you close in my thoughts and in my heart. A giant pile of hugs to all of you.
David and JZ, I've been thinking about you all the time, and Matilda, and Emmett, and JZ's mom and brothers and everyone who loves her. I haven't said much here partly because it's hard to find the words and partly because I don't want to "dump in" when you're already carrying such a heavy burden, but I love you both and am truly gutted at what is happening. Thank you for keeping us updated, David, and I'm wishing you all whatever peace and comfort and sweetness there is to be had in the midst of this ordeal.
I keep my mom updated on various Buffistas....even though she often has no idea who I'm talking about. I have kept her up to date about JZ and Mom sends her love and her prayers to all of you.
E has his first part time job! He's volunteered at the library before but this is his first paying job. It's at the pool where he does his swim team stuff and he's a ... like a helper I guess. I feel like a bad aunt because I don't know exactly what he does but he is kind of vague. His first day he said he was really tired because it was a lot of getting in and out of the pool. I think he helps with swim lessons with younger kids so maybe a lot of making sure they are doing things right and have the right flotation devices if they need them. He is really excited about and was explaining that his pay check will go into his checking account but then he is transferring most of it to his savings account "because it has a better interest rate!"
He will be 15 in two days! And will be a freshman whenever school starts. I asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he said money. Last year he went on a school sponsored trip to Italy (it was a combo birthday/Christmas present from multiple people) next summer he is going again (I think that's what he said) and he is going to be paying for part of it so a donation to his trip fund was his birthday request.
Yay for E! I loved having pocket money in my teens.
ltc’s family party was yesterday. So, her birthday season is officially over, and I am peopled out. So, I don’t plan on getting off the couch today.
Kate, I have to thank you for popping in here and talking about Our Flag Means Death and how it reignited your fandom love. Because it did the same for Jacqueline, and got her to write for the first time in many years. And that has been a great joy to her, reclaiming her creative self.
Writing Fanfic and going back and doing RenFaire last fall were both extremely important to her.
I don't think anything really makes her happier than getting a comment on her stories at AO3.

This is a good reminder to always comment on a story you love, even and maybe especially when it's a story that's been out for months or even years. It's such a small thing that will bring such huge joy to the writer.
I lit a candle for JZ in church this morning. I know that's the smallest of gestures, but for me it was focusing my love and grief into a tiny point of flame in the eyes of God and the universe.

Thank you.
Jacqueline's pastor at her new church came by the other day and they had a great discussion. JZ left the Catholic Church last year after the asshole Archbishop of San Francisco refused to give communion to Nancy Pelosi. So she's found a truly welcoming place at the legendary (in San Francisco circles anyway) Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Francis at the edge of the Castro.
This was a church that was dropped from the national charter in the 70s because they accepted gay and trans parishioners. And they ministered to many during the height of the AIDS crisis.
But Pastor Bea is a little German woman who writes the most beautiful homilies focused on the essence of Christ's message - accept all with love, tend to those who need it, honor those who do the good work in the world. She was so open and gentle with Jacqueline's fears when she visited yesterday, letting the conversation flow and acknowledging the difficulty and the absurdity of facing your own death.
All the services are live streamed on YouTube and Jacqueline's mother has also become a convert (also leaving the Catholic Church) at age 80.
