Well, death would definitely get rid of fatigue due to existing...
I decided to eat out tonight, and a guy at the table behind me was absolutely aghast at the idea of a restaurant running out of one of its specials by 8pm. He pointed out that the prime rib was listed on the regular menu as well—it was like he was trying to trip the waitress up and make her admit they weren't sold out after all. Yes child-in-retiree's-golf-shorts, I'm sure once she realizes that it was available for sale as a standard menu item in addition to the surf-and-turf special, one will just magically appear in the kitchen.
I have to file this one under Coincidences Are Weird As Hell, with a subheading of Really Bad Shit:
My brother's flight yesterday got in fine, I fetched him from the airport and took him to Mom's house, we hung out and ate pizza and watched the Reds. And then this morning he texted me to tell me that my SiL's 25-year-old nephew was killed in a motorcycle accident last night. What the actual fuck, man. So, gotta say that it's a convenient coincidence that he's already in town, so he can go support SiL's family, but seriously, god DAMN.
Oh I’m so sorry, Tep, what a tragedy
Oh Tep that is so sad. I'm so sorry.
yeah, how horrible...
Oh, no, Tep, that's awful. So sorry.
My niece is due on Monday, so every time my phone beeps I leap for it. (Although in reality my phone goes "mana-mana" from the Muppets.)
Just got back from 4 days at Camp, which was very nice although kind of hot. I might possibly have had too many ribs at last night's bbq. Now I need to do stuff around the house and cook food for my niece & her DH so they will be set for when the baby comes, but I think I will try that tomorrow.
Right now the Boss is laying on my feet because the boarding kennel was just a bit traumatizing for her. She could not wait to leave the building when I went to pick her up. I will take her for a long walk in a little while, when it cools off a bit.
Aww poor puppy. I am going to miss mine so so much while I’m gone, even though I know he’ll be having a good time at home with my bff who he loves, and her dog, who he also loves.
Felt like crap all day today and then went to a friend’s for dinner and got to cuddle her extremely fat three month old baby, which was fun, and see other folks. And once I was there felt more awake and better than I had all day. Which yay, but also wtf. The only thing I accomplished was laundry. I think I need one more target trip before I go.
meara I think you’re just illuminating what an extrovert you are - getting your happy energy from being around friends makes perfect sense! So glad Rory has good human and canine friends to hang with in your absence.
Suela, did you take the Boss to Shasta’s place? She also sometimes does in-home sitting for special friends - let me know if you want me to connect you.
Laura, I caught up on like 3 months of Natter. Thank you for remembering my birthday! It was a low-key day that was fine, and I knew I was ending the month with a fantastic vacation with Pix and ND, so that was sweet. My birthday sadly coincided with meara’s mom passing. These awful milestones in the circle of life are sobering.
In contrast to meara, if I ever needed proof I'm an introvert last night was it. I went to my aunt's 83rd birthday party, which was a HUGE event at a lodge venue with something like a hundred attendees, a prom-style picture background, catered food, and a DJ. (He said when he was approached about working an octogenarian's birthday, he had to say yes and see it. Bet he was surprised when the birthday girl stayed on the dance floor the whole time he was playing!) It was fun to see relatives and join the celebration, but it wore me out and I crashed for 12 hours once I got home.
