I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

So sorry about the deck and the tree, brenda!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

If I started work at 6:30, I can log off now, right?

I certainly hope so! I would say so even in my timezone.

Thrive to spite them

I had therapy today and then took the long way home and went to see Mom and had lunch with her. At the yummy New Mexican Place that was super busy because it's really good but also most restaurants are closed on Monday in Brevard so there are limited options.

Tomorrow M's mom invited people over but most aren't coming so it will be the 3 of us, his cousin and her daughter, a family friend or two, and maybe Mom for burgers and root beer floats.

Got an update about my aunt. They are inserting a feeding tube and when I was with Mom the palliative care nurse called and talked to mom about my aunt's prognosis (not good) and options. Right now Mom is going to give the feeding tube a few days and see if there is improvement and if there isn't then the decision will probably be made for making her comfortable as possible and hospice. My aunt isn't really responding to anyone right now and is mostly sleeping so I guess that's good.

Mom kept saying that last week my aunt was doing her rehab and seemed to be determined to do well and then it just suddenly went downhill. But my aunt had been really constipated and I'm wondering now if part of it was dehydration (since she isn't known for drinking water) and then she ended up having the opposite issue and getting really dehydrated. And then the UTI and then Covid and then it snowballed from there.

I have a feeling I'll be going with Mom to Florida this weekend or next week.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I wish you and your mom peace through this.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Good morning, and Happy Independence Day!

We're dogsitting Cupid for a couple days and she came click click clicking into our bedroom at 6am to inquire if we were ready to get up.

I gave her a pet and said, "No, we're still sleepy."

She padded away and came back precisely at 6:30 and made it clear she was ready to go.

So I took her on a 6:30 walk. A curious feature of our side of the Panhandle is that in our old neighborhood the cafes open at 7am. But over here it's not driven by office going commuters, but college students, so the cafes don't open until 8am.

The upshot of this is that I took Cupid on a walk back over to Cole Valley where I got the Peets just as it opened, then got a big whopping breakfast sandwich at Luke's Local.

Cupid and I sat down in the pocket dog park near where the train curves out of the tunnel at Carl & Cole, and I shared my sandwich with her.

Now we're back and she's properly fed, and I gave the Guinea Pigs kibble and lettuce, I watered my plants by giving them an ice cube each and I gave JZ her meds, and she promptly went back to sleep. Do you know why? Because she's retired and she can!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Yay retirement!

Yesterday evening involved an emergency vet visit for Javier (formerly Amyth’s cat). He started limping and not eating. The vet determined that it was a dislocated knee cap, and prescribed rest and pain pills. I got back and settled well after 11, but Javier woke me at 6:30 for breakfast, so I’m both relieved (that he’s feeling better) and tired.

Today I’ll be going to a matinee of the latest Indiana Jones movie.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

The vet determined that it was a dislocated knee cap

I didn't know that was a thing that could happen to cats! Ouch!

We're walking up to the parade in about 45 minutes, and then back home to bake brownies before going to Tim's brother's house for grilled meats and various shenanigans.

The blueberries I bought at Aldi are terrible. I feel so betrayed.

Our wings are not tired.

Yay parade! Not tasty berries are a betrayal.

{{Javier}} That sounds uncomfy.

Retirement sleeping in and whopping breakfast sandwiches on the other hand, sound awesome.

I am attempting to install a bidet thing on my sister's toilet. I got the whole seat thing installed, which was a project, but I am stuck on the plumbing. I am just not strong enough to disconnect the water supply. So I called my nephew and he is coming to my rescue. Should have done that an hour ago before I lost 3 quarts of sweat.
