I'm going to be taking a social media fast this week. If anyone needs me, I'll still be checking email, since so much business stuff goes through there now.

I was following the stories about the search for the people going to visit the Titanic wreck. All these billionaires seem to be trying to outdo each other in finding adventures to burn off some cash.

And my bureaucracy hassle is trying to get Social Security (retirement version). I've gone through the procedures, done the filings, had the phone interview ... and they sent me a letter that the check for my first payment was returned for not having a valid address. They keep sending me mail at the only address I have ... so why couldn't they send the check? and I gave them my bank info so they could do direct deposit ... sigh ....

I have been in the queue for 30 minutes to talk to HR for the company that is acquiring us.

They have one hold music song.

It's so blaringly loud on speakerphone that I have put the phone in a drawer.

After 40 minutes they picked up and immediately disconnected me.

Why Oh Why! The multitasker in me does not know the reason for hold music, or worse yet the repeated messages about how important I am.

Pride was this weekend, and while I did way less partying than in years past, I’m still tired and achy like in years past. Darn passage of time!

I figure if I'm important to them, why don't they have a human to answer the phone.

The second wait was less than 10 minutes, fortunately. Then the issue took a while to resolve, but at least there was different hold music.

The new overlords prohibit harassment based on gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, and gender identity. I realize it's a bare minimum, but I'll take it.

Do they specify what harassment they do permit?
