Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday Plei!

Both Gary and I have today off, which is why we had Mr. S for two nights. However, Gary still had/has a work meeting this afternoon.

Thrive to spite them

Happy Birthday Plei!!

I had a really nice birthday and father's day celebrations. I have pictures I need to put on FB.

I have tomorrow off and was going to try and get more in person with E time but I have to see the lawyer (there was already an appointment for something else I had forgotten about so it's about the settlement) and then Wed he is off to camp and after that he goes to his other grandma's. He is so tall. he hates us saying that but he is!

Oh and I found out that the Store Manager "no longer works here"... I don't know anything else except sometime in the afternoon or evening of the Big CEO visit he was no longer part of the store. Doubt I'll ever know which it was.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am always so curious when that happens, askye. Our VP of Marketing & Sales disappeared in May, I only found out because someone mentioned in passing "Since S left"; I thought she just wasn't in the office much. Not like I saw her all that often before. You would think that would change the structure of the org chart, though.

FTR, the company has announced that it's making a donation to the local Black Chamber of Commerce, which seems like an okay way for a corporation to observe Juneteenth. So I feel better about that, although I still think an actual day off would be a better gesture

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Aches and pains today made me think "damn, I'm getting old!" but then I remembered that yesterday I hauled bags of rocks to fill in a sunken area around my carport gutter drain and the cesspool/water feature in my back yard, then repeatedly climbed up and down a ladder to install my hanging planter. And early this morning I tried unsuccessfully to dig up a nandina in the vacant lot down the street. So not exactly a case of just sleeping wrong.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sore just thinking about it. Particularly the up-and-down ladder stuff gets to me.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Thanks, peeps! I'm really glad that my company has it as a holiday, but wow, it's disconcerting that now I have to compress everything I'm scrambling to get done into four days. Our brains and schedules still haven't got used to having it.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope your birthday was a good one, Plei.

We had Juneteenth off, but I work for a university, and it's a relatively easy time of year for them to offer a holiday. Last night I went to Tai Chi for the first time in nine years. My friend and I were two of the three youngest people there, which was a nice change for things athletic. It was still a bit of a workout. I came home sweaty and definitely feeling it in my thigh muscles. I'm looking forward to next week.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

TCG and ltc both had yesterday off, but it was a day filled with appointments. So, it wasn’t exactly relaxing. We ate leftovers from our big Father’s Day gathering and watched Project Runway, which was fun. ltc had 6 snow days this year so her last day of school isn’t until Friday. Then she’s going to my mother’s for the weekend, which is halfway closer than she used to be since she moved last month!

Thrive to spite them

I'm going to be the mystery next. I met with my lawyer about accepting the settlement. I feel a lot better about the whole thing and since it's going to be handled as a quasi termination I probably won't be going back to work. (I probably should have emptied out my locker yesterday but I dont' have anything important in there). The lawyer is going to try and get a little extra money for future medical expenses but she isn't sure it will happen. It will take about a month for me to get all the final stuff and sign the settlement.

At this point I feel like this is the best outcome.

sj--glad for the shorter trip to your mom's. And I hope that ltc has an awesome Grandma Weekend.
