Happy birthday to Plei!
My work has elected to celebrate Juneteenth by giving us a list of local celebrations rather than a day off. Not really satisfactory. A *lot* of people have either taken the day off or are working from home (which I *hope* means they aren’t really working). Last year the company made a donation to BLM but they haven’t said anything like that this year
Yeah, my guess is that zero of my practices have the day off, hence no day off for me.
I would not have the day off if it weren’t for bereavement leave. But the client I work for has today off so hopefully not much going on—I did check my email and forward a few things this morning and update my out of office.
I hope it can be a quiet day for you meara so your body and mind can get some rest.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday Plei!
Both Gary and I have today off, which is why we had Mr. S for two nights. However, Gary still had/has a work meeting this afternoon.
Happy Birthday Plei!!
I had a really nice birthday and father's day celebrations. I have pictures I need to put on FB.
I have tomorrow off and was going to try and get more in person with E time but I have to see the lawyer (there was already an appointment for something else I had forgotten about so it's about the settlement) and then Wed he is off to camp and after that he goes to his other grandma's. He is so tall. he hates us saying that but he is!
Oh and I found out that the Store Manager "no longer works here"... I don't know anything else except sometime in the afternoon or evening of the Big CEO visit he was no longer part of the store. Doubt I'll ever know which it was.
I am always so curious when that happens, askye. Our VP of Marketing & Sales disappeared in May, I only found out because someone mentioned in passing "Since S left"; I thought she just wasn't in the office much. Not like I saw her all that often before. You would think that would change the structure of the org chart, though.
FTR, the company has announced that it's making a donation to the local Black Chamber of Commerce, which seems like an okay way for a corporation to observe Juneteenth. So I feel better about that, although I still think an actual day off would be a better gesture
Aches and pains today made me think "damn, I'm getting old!" but then I remembered that yesterday I hauled bags of rocks to fill in a sunken area around my carport gutter drain and the cesspool/water feature in my back yard, then repeatedly climbed up and down a ladder to install my hanging planter. And early this morning I tried unsuccessfully to dig up a nandina in the vacant lot down the street. So not exactly a case of just sleeping wrong.
I'm sore just thinking about it. Particularly the up-and-down ladder stuff gets to me.
Thanks, peeps! I'm really glad that my company has it as a holiday, but wow, it's disconcerting that now I have to compress everything I'm scrambling to get done into four days. Our brains and schedules still haven't got used to having it.
