Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, that is funny -- I had a similar experience last week. Talking to a friend who is a big Star Wars fan about reading romance, and I was like, "Oh! I read one I couldn't get into and then found out the author is a Reylo writer, so that explains it," and my friend was like ?????

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Last night, coming down the stairs with my suitcase at my parents' house, I missed a step. Fortunately, it was pretty close to the bottom, but I still managed to sprain my ankle, scrape the skin off my elbow, and pull muscles down my right side. And then I had to go to the airport. And it was the last flight of the day because I'm an idiot who doesn't learn. So of course it was late.

I kind of feel proud of limping my way through security and to the gate and onto the plane and off the plane and to baggage claim. I don't think I should, but I couldn't handle trying to request a wheelchair and waiting for it and dealing with the whole thing.

Got to bed around 2:30, so I'm also running short on sleep, and I need my husband to wake up and feed me, because I do not want to limp to the kitchen.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Well that sounds like a sucky end to your trip, Dana. I hope your ankle heals quickly.

Askye, sometimes it's nice to know that things are going to someone you like. My upstairs neighbor is finding homes for her mother's pottery. Her mom was a professional potter, and while she sold quite a bit back in the day, there is still plenty that needs a home. I got a nifty teapot the other day from the stash. Some of it's going to the state museum, because her mother was good and pottery's a thing in NC. But my friend is looking for meaningful connections (people her mother knows, friends who have been helpful as her parents transition to their new home, etc.) for a lot of the rest. Do I feel like I did "multiple items of good, hand-made pottery" worth of help? Not really, but I did some. And I think it makes my friend feel better that there's that connection. Perhaps your friend feels better that crafting stuff is going to someone she knows and likes?

Our wings are not tired.

Oh dear, Dana. You really should be waited on today.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, Dana, nobody needs to be staggering around injured at the airport.

Mind the step!

Matilda finished up her baseball season yesterday (hit a line drive single over the shortstop's head in her last at bat. Her last play in the field was a routine grounder where she threw out the runner at first). She did all the Senior Day posters herself too and was hyping up her teammates. They had fun. She had fun, although she prefers softball (with girls instead of stinky boys).

Then she left her lunchbox at the field. And it's one of those fancy thermos-y, hot water chamber lunch assembly deals from Japantown which has kept her in hot lunches for two years, but no more.

Oh well. We definitely got our money's worth.

Trying to prep in advance of our next trip down to LA on Thursday. Le sigh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh no, Dana! What a pain, literally and figuratively.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I have BBQ. That helps a lot.

Always Anti-fascist!

Thanks, Brenda, apparently making bullet points is one of the cleaner things McNulty's good at.(Which, of course I stole the phrase for because I know a lot about things people do to make stuff look nice and/or promoting line-towing) Yow, Dana. Hec, when I'm stressed, I lose things too. But it does suck.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Oh no, Dana!

I am on DAY TWO of my new job and so far everybody is very welcoming and helpful and I am basically a nervous wreck who is trying my very best to cosplay a Normal Human Who Knows How To People.
