Quick healing wishes for Sheryl's mom.

The tooth extraction went surprisingly quickly. Unless my sense of time was more awry from the sedation than I think, it was maybe half an hour tops from the time I went under to when they were helping me to my feet afterward. Seems awfully quick to remove the shattered remains of a tooth, put in a bone graft to help anchor my eventual implant, and stitch things up, but I guess it's routine as can be for them.

I thought I'd bought a good variety of super-soft foods, but I'm already sick of ice cream, yogurt, pudding, applesauce, and noodle soup, and absolutely STARVING despite many of those being quite high calorie foods. I now have a delivery order in for the family where my portion will be Swedish pancakes and a sausage patty because MUST HAVE SOLID FOOD.

I have the final Temeraire book open in another app Right Now! I've also been reading lots of Schitt's Creek fic, since we just finished the series.

Today's message of "don't do meth, kids!" is brought to you by helping someone younger than me shower (at work). And surprise poops.

Surprise poops are almost never good.

I had to be fasting for labs this morning and now my head hurts and I want to go back to bed but I have to work for a living. Boo.

I’m going to have to dive back in to Temeraire and Curse of Chalion and a half dozen new to me things after this conversation.

I use their apps on my laptop or iPad or mobile phone

The draw of the actual Kindle for me is that I don’t get notifications or keep absently popping over to email or FB or solitaire. I stay much more focused.

I cycle between reading on my kindle, on a laptop, and on my phone. Not being able to search as well or look things up as easily on the laptop irritates me. I use those kind of a lot. And I can't read magazines at all on the laptop. But having a tab open that I can switch to while I'm waiting for a report to finish running rather than going to a completely different device is nice. Weirdly, I can read magazines formatted to match the print edition on my phone but not on the kindle, but of course the phone has a tiny screen. I got a Kindle Oasis specifically because it is waterproof (or resistant, I forget which) so I could read in the steam room at the gym and I actually do that sometimes. It's also designed to be held one handed and it really does seem more comfortable lying in bed holding an iPad - although I haven't been able to justify getting a new iPad since my last one got old and tired and cranky so I am not comparing to today's iPads, they may be better in that respect.
