David, I hope the next trip down goes much smoother.

Thrive to spite them

I've read 2 MCU fics I have to rec-- both are AU and probably out of character but I don't care.

The first is My Big Fat Wolf Wedding (https://archiveofourown.org/works/31175741) Steve (who is a vampire) accidentally gets engaged to Bucky (who is a werewolf). -- Steve just thought he was biting a hot guy, Bucky thought he found his true mate or something.. Bucky in this is a very sweet, kind of himbo-ish werewolf dude who has a love of romance novels and Steve just wants to have the best werewolf wedding for Bucky as possible since he accidentally got werewolf married/engaged to him.

And then there is the Bait and Switch verse [link] Bucky is the Winter Soldier, Sam is Captain America, Steve is just a regular guy (not a super hero) but definitely has some Thoughts on Tactics and Strategy he shares with Tony, (after Tony invites himself and Sam to Bucky and Steve's lunch date). I still haven't started reading any actual books. I need to do that.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Urgh. My dad called to say my mom's in the hospital. She's had an UTI that isn't responding to the antibiotics she's been prescribed, and now she has low blood pressure. Hopefully they'll find something that works, and she'll be back home soon.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I hope she's home soon, Sheryl.

I have just one biological aunt left, and she's not all that with it. I have a feeling that I'm going to drift further away from my cousins on that side once she's gone. They're all at least a decade older than me. Weird that I spent so much of my childhood around them, and now the ones I talk to are the ones on the other side, the ones I didn't really interact with much until I was an adult.

JZ, if you haven't read the Temeraire series, you must. And it will last you a while.

Warning, though: the first book DID cause me to email the author and say, "Goddamn it, you made me cry at work." (Maybe I shouldn't have been reading it on my lunch break, but I wasn't expecting the floodgates to open! Also, damn, that was a long time ago.)

I'm mostly reading, umm, L&Co. fic. There's a good one that dropped yesterday that I've already read...three? four? times. There's also a great Kipps character study that updates on the regular. It's one of those fandoms that's just large enough for regular content, just small enough that I keep running out.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Quick healing wishes for Sheryl's mom.

The tooth extraction went surprisingly quickly. Unless my sense of time was more awry from the sedation than I think, it was maybe half an hour tops from the time I went under to when they were helping me to my feet afterward. Seems awfully quick to remove the shattered remains of a tooth, put in a bone graft to help anchor my eventual implant, and stitch things up, but I guess it's routine as can be for them.

I thought I'd bought a good variety of super-soft foods, but I'm already sick of ice cream, yogurt, pudding, applesauce, and noodle soup, and absolutely STARVING despite many of those being quite high calorie foods. I now have a delivery order in for the family where my portion will be Swedish pancakes and a sausage patty because MUST HAVE SOLID FOOD.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I have the final Temeraire book open in another app Right Now! I've also been reading lots of Schitt's Creek fic, since we just finished the series.

Today's message of "don't do meth, kids!" is brought to you by helping someone younger than me shower (at work). And surprise poops.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Surprise poops are almost never good.

Fingers crossed that they get the situation improved with your mom, Sheryl!

Is Temeraire the fantasy series written offline by astolat? Or do I have my big name fanfic writers mixed up?

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

It is, Matt.

Don’t do meth seems like a good plan even without surprise poops but definitely that would drive it home.

I had to be fasting for labs this morning and now my head hurts and I want to go back to bed but I have to work for a living. Boo.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I’m going to have to dive back in to Temeraire and Curse of Chalion and a half dozen new to me things after this conversation.

I use their apps on my laptop or iPad or mobile phone

The draw of the actual Kindle for me is that I don’t get notifications or keep absently popping over to email or FB or solitaire. I stay much more focused.
