I just console myself that mispronouncing words you know the meaning of generally means you learned them from reading, not conversation.

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
For some reason my shoulders/neck have been tense lately. You'd think I'd be a bit less stressed now, but my body hasn't gotten the message.
You've been under such stress that your body probably thinks now is a *fantastic* time to really feel it, in theory to let it go.
I hope the tension leaves soon. You've been through so much.
When we meet with our Canadian client, the way they pronounce "proh-cess" drives me nuts. And they use that word...so much
Someone on a trashy reality show I'm watching said "proh-cess," and I was like "CANADIAN!?!??!"
Also I have apparently been pronouncing desultory in the British manner all this time.
Me too!
I am pro Canadian Process, anti Canadian Pasta.
I love all the accents and all the pronunciations! And mispronunciations too. Except “supposably“ drives me 🦇 but that’s specifically because of someone truly terribly who said it that way.

Me toooo!
When I first read it I thought “semen” was pronounced “seh-min” and I still think my way is better.
I betcha actual seamen would appreciate that tweak, actually.
Never heard or read or used the word Desultory that I recall, had no idea of pronunciation or meaning.
Also never seen or heard of Wimby.
I feel out of touch and poorly read.
I had to google Wimby.
We are apparently not getting raises this year as word was we would be told about them prior to the March 1 paychecks and here it is payday and no raise. Which is not really surprising, we had a bad revenue year, but I'm annoyed that no one bothered to actually say so. Possibly they will mention it at the "town hall" in two weeks but I doubt it. Not putting me in a good mood for the upcoming employee engagement survey.

I learned it from Simon and Garfunkle's A Simple Desultory Philippic (or How I Was Robert McNamara'd into Submission).
