When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

Thrive to spite them

I'm sorry for your loss Matt.

Bev- this is just the consultation not the actual colonoscopy. For that I will be taking the day off, and probably the day before and after as well.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm so sorry, Matt.

For that I will be taking the day off, and probably the day before and after as well.

Due to family history I've had at least 5, maybe 6 colonoscopies already--my doctor currently has me on an every 3 years cycle. I don't generally take the day before off, but you definitely want the full day of at least. If you haven't already scheduled it, I recommend no later than mid-morning, and I also try to schedule for a Friday whenever possible.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Feeling good that my first available colonoscopy appointment was 3pm on Monday July 31.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Today was pretty much entirely taken up by my cousin's funeral. Mom, one aunt, and I went together and were the only members of the extended family on our side able to attend due to the short notice and us being local. (My cousin was a former funeral director, so apparently the arrangements had been pre-planned and were just waiting for the trigger—he was buried with haste usually only seen in cases of suspicious death with survivors eager for inheritance!) My cousin's son gave a sweet eulogy as part of the service and was more composed than I would have been at speaking in public even without the extenuating circumstances. I suspect a future in the clergy for him. (Also he has a clone-like resemblance to his dad in his mid teens; we all had a laugh during the service when Chuck's friend and former boss said there'd never be anyone quite like him and his widow raised her arm over the son's head to point at him.)

Our wings are not tired.

Went to visit Mr. S this afternoon. He seemed okay, though he got bored quickly.

Did you get any feedback on how he has been coping with the change?

That's nice. I hope it brings her comfort.

I have family visiting. We went to the beach for sunrise. It is great having them here.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Matt, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I hope Mr S is doing well in his new environment.

ltc is finally back at school, but she's probably going to have a snow day tomorrow. So, that's fun. ION, that is probably not actual news to anyone here, therapy is hard.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

ION, that is probably not actual news to anyone here, therapy is hard.

I always recommend a treat afterwards when therapy is hard. (Where "treat" can be watching mindless TV, a really good cup of coffee, a nap, a bowl of ice cream, a pedicure, or really any dang thing that says "treat" to you.)

JenP - Feb 27, 2023 8:24:50 am PST #20853 of 30000

Seconding the treat

So I set up a therapy appointment for myself -- it's been years, and, honestly, I'm a little envious of Matt's weekly sesh. It was supposed to be last Friday, but the therapist never showed or sent a video link.

Obviously, she's not working through the service I used to set it up anymore (she never responded in any way to initial message - the system just auto-added me, I guess) - but, like, considering how hard it is for many people to work up to even getting that first appointment booked, if I were in a bad way or just sensitive to that kind of thing... yikes. I sent an email to the service.

Found another one to try (I find on BCBS portal first, then book through however they're taking appts.) Zocdoc is following up for more information (insurance, etc.), so I have more confidence this time.

Hooray for therapy, and arrrrgh for how frustrating it is to try to get an initial appointment with someone! Fingers crossed that #2 follows through for you.

JenP - Feb 27, 2023 12:11:28 pm PST #20855 of 30000

Thank you! I did get a message from #2. It was automated, but it specifically requested further action to solidify the appointment, so...

I was suddenly hit with the need to be horizontal for a few minutes just now, so I'm taking a twenty minute nap. And, go!
