For anyone wanting to try the Monday faux hooch, they're currently having a sale on bundles. I've just ordered the gin and whiskey for Jim and I. I shall report back!
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Y’all. tiktok has ruined me. I was at a happy hour tonight and this woman said what she does by saying “I’m an accountant” and I immediately was like “…like a real one or like a tiktok accountant” because that’s all I could hear when she said it like that!! She had no idea what I was talking about and is a real accountant.
I remember black cohosh from when I was into witchy herbal stuff, and it was recommended for “women’s concerns”. It would be cool if they were actually onto something.
I went through menopause when I was caring for my dying dad, so my doctor just put me on an antidepressant/anti anxiety med combo, and that got me through. Sometimes I miss Xanax. But my family has a history of addiction, so after all the everything I talked to my doctor and went off it. I’ve gotta say, being post menopausal is fabulous! In my last big clean I realized the period supplies under the sink were 10 years old, and I tossed them. No cramps, no hormonal fluctuations, and if I was having heterosexual sex, there’d be no pregnancy scares. 10/10, definitely recommend.
I had a hysterectomy and oophorectomy at 38 because of uterine cancer, so it's been a long while... haven't missed it a bit and the transition was shockingly easy. But my mom had it very easy with her natural menopause, too, so, heredity, I guess.
Plus, no side effects that aren't easily handled, so I've been lucky. Very lucky.
Waiting for a mammogram right now. Routine, so I'd like that to continue. Then lunch with my aunt and cousin at noon. And a couple of meetings and some work.
Then... weekend!
Perimenopause can eat a bag of dicks (although I never had hot flashes). I highly recommend being on the other side of it.
As for NA drinks, my friends just started carrying an NA pre mixed Negroni at their bar and it is legit! I’ve only had it topped with Prosecco so far but I’d drink it on its own with no complaints.
Perimenopause is the worst. Mostly because my pms days have become totally unpredictable.
Concur: perimenopause was awful. At one point, not to be too graphic, but I thought I was hemorrhaging onto my office chair.
The shit they do NOT tell us about our own aging bodies is legion.
So yeah it's nice to be on the other side of that. I still get some hot flashes, especially if I'm drinking. So not drinking much for the last six weeks has been great for my sleep. I should keep it up.
I have no idea where I stand wrt menopause, peri or otherwise. How do you even know? My periods are very heavy due to fibroids but I wasn’t a candidate for non-emergency surgery because of blood clot risk. My temperature regulation has been shitty for ages, and I went through a period of awful night sweats 15 or so years ago.
Not missing any periods, that’s for damn sure. Beyond ready.

I believe it's considered official menopause when you haven't had a period for 12 months. I'm almost 52 and still getting them pretty damn regularly. I don't care for that shit at all.
I was pretty darn pleased to be done with it at 47. I really didn't have much difficulty. Some hot flashes but not for long.
