I get confused. I remember everything. I remember too much, and... some of it's made up, and... some of it can't be quantified, and... there's secrets.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Typical weekend here. Multiple meltdowns from Mr. S. I feel bad that I feel this way, but it will be a relief once he's in the residential program.

Thrive to spite them

I just had a weird misunderstanding with M's mom. She told me "next time you order groceries get *real* butter. " this confused me because I buy butter and at my confusion she expanded " not that stuff you usually buy . The real butter that comes in the plastic container."

She means I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.

I don't care I'll order it. I'm just confused how she thinks that is real butter.

Also she told me she isn't going to do the home improvement program through the city/HUD because she doesn't trust them. She won't say why just that she won't. Instead she's going to try and get loans to pay for all the repairs that are needed. Starting with windows and she got an estimate today but they need to find someone to approve a loan. I asked about the roof because I would think that would be the bigger issue but she said she is going to save up for it.

On the other hand I bought a 2nd craft cart today and was organizing some of my stuff and then I made some collage backgrounds and the most art I've done in a few weeks.

And my ear is feeling better. Still has some fluid in my ear but not that bad. I didn't take a decongestant today. Yay. Although I might tomorrow

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I don't care I'll order it. I'm just confused how she thinks that is real butter.

Looks like she literally can not believe it.

"You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.” —Bette Davis

Bwah!

Well the good news is my washer and dryer appear to be operating correctly. Alas, the same can't be said for the drainage pipe the washing machine discharges into, which backed up and flooded the laundry room when I did a test run today. Instead of the horror movie I intended to see this afternoon, I got to live one for a couple of hours, bailing and mopping the spill. Ah well, at least it's in an outbuilding rather than the actual house—normally my traditional just-moved-in plumbing problem involves a toilet malfunctioning. In the short term I'll get a big bucket to run the drain hose into, and eventually see if a plumber can correct the problem in the outgoing line.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My Laura Ingalls Wilder lungs are grateful there are vaccines and treatment now. Really helped me.

Sheryl, You just need some help with Mr S. and you deserve all the help you can get. Relief that he will have that is normal.

She means I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.

Didn't see that coming.

That’s an interesting interpretation of “real” butter. Huh.

I accomplished nothing today. Woke up with a headache, bought breakfast down the street, took a nap, bought a few things at Trader Joe’s, ate cheese crackers and raspberry kringle for dinner, and am going to bed early. Ugh. After flying all day yesterday and dealing with my parents all week. My room is a mess and my toilet is running but I DO have a massage booked tomorrow. So yay that.

We had dinner at a really good... sort of international stret food place. It got a rave review in the Post a while back. Counter order and take it to your table, and it really was forking delicious. There were four of us and no disappointments at all. It's on the list of places we go now, for sure.

Before that, I tidied up my office and not much else accomplished, but that's fine.

Tomorrow morning, I start an acquatics exercise class at the community center, which is good, because it will get me back to he pool, which I've been not doing since before Christmas, which is not good for my mood or my physical well being. So that's good.

And I need to get a work project done tomorrow that I've been putting off, but I set a deadline to get it to someone else tomorrow, so I can't avoid it anymore. I doubt it's even really as "hard" as I think it will be. Blergh.

Now I just need to sleep -- I was just awakened from a dream where I had been stood up for a blind date at a movie but went to see the movie anyway... but suddenly got a leg cramp as I was.looking for a seat... the actual leg cramp woke me up. Nice that I got it into the narrative, though not really that hard to do no matter what the dream was, huh?

Anyway... good night.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anyway... good night.

Sleep deep and well. Full day.

I've been having stress dreams almost every night. And they all involve travel. Usually trying to catch a flight and there's some issue getting to the airport, or paying for it, or I missed a connection, or the bus takes the wrong route.

So many of them wind up with me at a counter trying to pay for something and the card is rejected, or I'm pulling out nothing but receipts from my wallet.

And it's weird because (a) we've got money now; and (b) I'm not going anywhere.

In fact, I've barely been out of San Francisco for the last three years.

And by "out of San Francisco" I mean Berkeley and Oakland.

The last time I left the Bay Area was Fall of 2019.

Yeah. I went to Colorado in the summer of 2020, but other than that I have only traveled for work. In two weeks I'm doing a 3-day hike in the Marin Headlands, but that's it for actual travel plans right now.
