Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I leave way too early tomorrow morning for a week in Disney World!
Woot!

Can audible audiobooks be shared with non-audible users?
Audible has a "send book" feature but it does require the recipient to create an account. You can def cancel without paying once you're done listening to the book though.

Oooh!
Yesterday I took Aeryn to Eaglefest where we met a Very Smol Owl (and some very big eagles), today I took her to urgent care with what is probably strep throat. (BOO.) So my plans for the rest of today is waiting for the Dr to call back with her test results and then probably going to CVS to pick up antibiotics.
I actually Did Things this weekend, cultural, adulty type things.
Friday went to the Lyric Opera for the opening night of an opera set in a Chicago barbershop and grappling with issues of community, violence, and relationships. Very loosely based on Barber of Seville.
Then Saturday a play by a small company based on James Joyce’s Dubliners, staged in the upstairs of an Irish pub. No set, just mic stands and each player tackling three or so characters.
Today I’ve done nothing at all and am watching the new Pro Bowl, which involves a series of flag football games coached by Mannings with Snoop offering sideline commentary. Half the players are wearing hats and sunglasses and jewelry and appear to be having a fucking ball. When did this happen? It’s delightful!
That all sounds very cool, brenda.

That's a big yay/boo.

Fun!
Owls are so cool. We’ve done some owl calling hikes at the nature center near us and we have a great horned owl we sometimes hear at the cabin. Even the non smol ones are pretty wee under all theirf.
Timelies all!
Typical weekend here. Multiple meltdowns from Mr. S. I feel bad that I feel this way, but it will be a relief once he's in the residential program.
I just had a weird misunderstanding with M's mom. She told me "next time you order groceries get *real* butter. " this confused me because I buy butter and at my confusion she expanded " not that stuff you usually buy . The real butter that comes in the plastic container."
She means I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.
I don't care I'll order it. I'm just confused how she thinks that is real butter.
Also she told me she isn't going to do the home improvement program through the city/HUD because she doesn't trust them. She won't say why just that she won't. Instead she's going to try and get loans to pay for all the repairs that are needed. Starting with windows and she got an estimate today but they need to find someone to approve a loan. I asked about the roof because I would think that would be the bigger issue but she said she is going to save up for it.
On the other hand I bought a 2nd craft cart today and was organizing some of my stuff and then I made some collage backgrounds and the most art I've done in a few weeks.
And my ear is feeling better. Still has some fluid in my ear but not that bad. I didn't take a decongestant today. Yay. Although I might tomorrow

Looks like she literally can not believe it.
Bwah!
Well the good news is my washer and dryer appear to be operating correctly. Alas, the same can't be said for the drainage pipe the washing machine discharges into, which backed up and flooded the laundry room when I did a test run today. Instead of the horror movie I intended to see this afternoon, I got to live one for a couple of hours, bailing and mopping the spill. Ah well, at least it's in an outbuilding rather than the actual house—normally my traditional just-moved-in plumbing problem involves a toilet malfunctioning. In the short term I'll get a big bucket to run the drain hose into, and eventually see if a plumber can correct the problem in the outgoing line.
