Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

DC has Potomac Phil ... he's already dead (and taxidermied).

I saw a picture of a groundhog holding a sign saying "Dammit Jim, I'm a rodent, not a meteorologist" ... and, yes, he's wearing a Starfleet uniform.

Our wings are not tired.

Well, I certainly learned more about the predictive rodents this morning.

Went to eye doctor yesterday. Interesting. After being farsighted for many decades, now nearsighted. All in all I will take it as I love this being able to read my phone and watch without glasses. Computer too! I am getting transitional lenses for the driving and beach going.

Big day today in automotive news. We are getting not one but two new (to us) vehicles. I get my 2021 Tesla to replace the 2018 which was totaled. Then all the car discussion recently made DH take a long hard look at his big diesel truck and the fact that without a house that needs construction projects, he doesn't need it anymore. So he is getting a Model X, which has 7 seats for his almost daily hauling of kids. The dealership is giving him a check for $300 for the vehicle swap because the truck is worth so much. I calculated that between fuel and repairs the truck cost us $1200 a month so switching to the Tesla is going to make a huge difference. Still, he will miss his truck and will put a tow hitch on the X. I pick up mine at 11:30 and return the rental, and he picks up his at 1 or so and says bye to the truck. So we are about to be a two red Tesla family! (Yes, Elon is an idiot, but I love his cars)

Happy Friday. My boss is off, the two other people in my section are teleworking and I really need to plow through stuff while it should be quiet, so I’m putting on an audiobook and digging in.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Quebec’s groundhog was found dead right before the ceremony was supposed to start.

Has anyone confirmed de Blasio's location at the time??

Can audible audiobooks be shared with non-audible users? Or really any audiobooks? My book club book for Feb is West with Giraffes and my librar doesn’t have it in audio and I don’t want to pay $20+ for it which is what I am seeing. Audio is the only way I am getting through books at the moment.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Exciting on the new cars, Laura!

We're running around this morning compounding the typical morning rush with me taking JZ to her second chemo infusion.

Wish us a smooth commute (in the rain), and easy infusability with extra anti-nausea meds.

So wished, Hec.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Calm and no nausea for JZ.

Last day of Paxlovid today.

I am not enjoying my work day. It has too much work in it, for one thing.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My washer/dryer will allegedly be delivered and installed sometime tomorrow, its FOURTH scheduled delivery. I'll believe it when I hear the washing machine go through a rinse cycle.

In other house news I finally got my kitchen cleared out enough to move my drop-leaf breakfast cart out to its intended position completing the square of the countertops, which also places it perfectly to set groceries on while I'm stowing them in the fridge. And I completed painting the top edge of the misaligned cupboard under my bathroom sink so it matches the rest of the exterior. Plus switched my parents' portrait and a wall clock in my living room, both looking better in the position I'd originally chosen for the other.
