I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I *think* I have completed my self-appraisal? The instructions say to press the green send button and there is no green send button (I confirmed another coworker does not see one either, it's not just me). One day before the deadline!

Starting on January 1st companies advertising for jobs in California and Washington (and Colorado was already doing this) and NYC are all supposed to list a salary range on their job posting. There are definitely more than there used to be, but many companies still aren't (including mine, grr! I want to see where I fall!)

Happy birthday, Shrift!

We’re sort of easing back to work at my office. No meetings today, one tomorrow, and next week is chock full.

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday shrift!

Another day, another colossal meltdown. It started when Mr. S tried to lock me in his room, and got aggressive when I got out. He got more and more violently aggressive when I repeatedly told him I was not going into the back of his room, because I didn't trust him. I locked him in his room to cool down, and he threw his tablet out the window, breaking it. This was followed by nearly everything else in his room. Called 911, and the police ended up taking him to the ER. Gary went over there. We'll see what comes of this, because the last week or so has shown that Mr. S can't seem to stay in control at home.

What is even happening?

Happy Birthday, shrift!

Oh, Sheryl. I'm so sorry. That's just all so hard.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Happy Birthday shrift!

I am back online after too many days with no internet access or TV signal in the new house. I would not recommend moving on a holiday weekend, for that and myriad other reasons. Still, got everything moved and the empty apartment cleaned and had a great New Year’s Day dinner out with my mom, my best friend’s wife, and my pseudo-nephews, all of whom helped immensely with the cleanup.

The cats are now cautiously exploring the house. They were like night and day—Jackson walked into the carrier of his own free will when I sprinkled a little catnip on the liner and stayed in for almost 9 hours before complaining, whereas capturing Molly was a 40-hour ordeal that saw me running to Urgent Care for infected cat bites after my hand swelled up like a cartoon character’s.

Bills’ player Damar Hamlin made what looked like a normal hit and got back up on his feet, and then just collapsed like 2 seconds later. The broadcasters said the EMTs were administering CPR. I don’t know if he went into cardiac arrest, but it sounds likely.

It sounds a lot like how Chris Pronger had his heart knocked into arrhythmia by a puck to the chest back in the late 90s. Scary stuff.

It's the most common way amateur baseball players die in America (since the advent of batting helmets): line drive hits the pitcher in the chest and causes cardiac arrest.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I took the day off work and got in a nice, long walk in the park before the rains start again, finished a library book, made chicken pot pie, and assembled more of the 608 piece Lego Orchid I bought myself for my birthday.
