Have I told you all what happened to my boss’s car? His car was stolen in the middle of the night at the end of August. A few days later, he’s watching TikTok waiting for the gym to open and….
Let’s let NBC take it from there. [link]
ETA: better link [link]
(His is the black car.)
I think he was most annoyed that they added a pine tree 🌲 air freshener.
Nicest man in the world, and an absolute magnet for drama.
Brenda, his car was stolen in Chicago?
No, he lives in Long Island. Which makes the NY part make more sense -oops)
Laura, I'm so glad Brendon is okay, but, ugh, what a mess to deal with. Much worse for the licenseless teen, though.
brenda, yikes! That's wild. Poor guy.
An acquaintance here (also a friend of bonny, who introduced us back when I was trying to deal with my dad's fancy cars) is going through horrendous and utterly bureaucratic-black-comedy stolen-car woes right now; a cherished old car, not all *that* valuable but quirky and beloved and full of sentimental value, was stolen from his Berkeley driveway. The car is definitely somewhere in San Francisco and someone keeps parking it illegally in one particular neighborhood and getting tickets that are sent to him, and other car folks in the Bay Area are constantly spotting it and trying to call the police, but the parking citation team and the actual criminal-investigations team at the SFPD are apparently not really communicating so every time someone calls in a report of STOLEN CAR PARKED RIGHT OUTSIDE MY HOUSE, THE OWNER DESPERATELY WANTS IT BACK, nobody official gets there until after it's been moved (but generally in the meantime someone else has written it a ticket).
Guinea pig update: The wee girls remain unbelievably cute and also unbelievably shy and unbelievably fast. I want to cuddle them all the damn time, but they're still mostly feral and I don't want to traumatize them with my big lummox affections and giant hands and big Brobdingagian face.
Matilda update: So, so stressed about finals. Nearly done, but still unbearably stressed. She puts so much pressure on herself; I swear it isn't us, it's all coming from her.
That is truly wild, Brenda! And also crazy wild, JZ! I'm appreciating parking in a secured garage more at the moment.
Sweet guinea pigs, let yourselves be snuggled.
{{Matilda}} The stress in high school these days seems so much worse than in my day.
(or I just didn't care that much, also a possibility}
That must be very frustrating for the guy, JZ, but it's also very funny and would be a good running gag in a madcap comedy
I decided to stop at a coffee shop near work for breakfast this morning and only when I got there realized I didn't have my purse, but I did have my phone and they take Apple pay so that was all good, and when I got to work I found my purse on my desk where it has been since Tuesday. So that's how on top of things I am.
Man, when I woke up in the middle of the night figuring the NyQuil had worn off and determined I didn't feel like I needed another dose it felt like a triumph but now in the cold light of day it feels more like a mistake. As does being awake. Blergh.
I've never used Apple Pay. I should try that sometime.
This week DH and I started a new schedule that gives me 3 hours off in the morning to go to the beach or gym, or whatever. I'd been feeling trapped at home with working all day and him being gone to basketball in the afternoons into the evenings. So I get up at my usual 6ish, drink my coffee, and feed the animals. Then I take the dog to the park getting home by 8 to work for an hour until 9. He takes over until noon monitoring my usual work, watching my email, and phone calls. Then I am back to work noonish. He is generally off to basketball practice about 2 and may get back by 6 or 7, or much later if he has games or kids to drive home.
It has been a big help getting to walk the beach or go swimming without worrying about some doctor having an urgent issue. I don't like to exercise at night as my body has decided to be a morning body.
That sounds nice, Laura.
I am compensating with another cup of coffee, we'll see how that goes
