Buffy? I like that. That girl's so hot, she's buffy.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Sheryl, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Congratulations, Matt!

I’m at my library bookstore job, which seems to be shaking me out of my holiday funk a bit. I have found way way way too many books for ltc.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's great, Matt!

Meant to say, I love the floors, Matt.

"You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.” —Bette Davis

They're vinyl planking rather than hardwood, but they look and feel really nice. Mom getting her floors done that way really turned me around on my snobbery about hardwood or nothing. Plus, the color matches the heavier shedder of my two cats, which is always a bonus!

Ha! Yes, to the bonus. And, yeah, my sister had hers done with some material like that, and they are gorgeous and resilient.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

To be honest, I hadn't been that close with my aunt. I think she got to meet Mr. S when we went up to CT a few years back, but that's about it.

I have finished making my open enrollment selectins, a whole day before the deadline. Ended up keeping my current coverage, mostly, just added voluntary accident and hospital indemnity because they seem like good ideas (we haven't had those options before). Something on Facebook yesterday reminded me how much more of a pain it was to fill my ADHD prescriptions when I wasn't with Kaiser - having the prescribing doctor and the pharmacy under the same umbrella seems to - so that tipped the scales to staying. If anyone was wondering.

Thrive to spite them

Congrats on the house!

Mom's colonoscopy went fairly well. She also had an endoscopy at the same time. She's been having a lot of GI issues and so far no answers as to why. Good news they didn't see anything obvious, kinda but it means they have to send some samples off for biopsy and see what is going on.

I got an update from her about my aunt and my cousin's son. My aunt is finally adjusting to assisted living BUT they are trying to sell her car and thought well maybe one of those places like Carvana or Car Max will work. Since Mom is in NC and my uncle is in OK it has to be something that can be done from afar and someone can pick up the car. They went with Car Guru but AFTER my Mom and uncle thought everything was finalized my uncle gets an email saying they need a long list of pictures of the interior of the car. So my uncle has called the assisted living place and trying to find some one my uncle can pay to take pictures. And then once the deal is done (I hope it goes through) my aunt will be given a check and then the next issue is finding out how to get it deposited because my aunt doesn't drive and she doesn't use a smart phone. I'm wondering if she could Uber to the bank, deposit it and Uber home or if they assisted living place has some way they could take her to the bank.

In the news of my cousin's son it's not so great. So his mom has been trying, I guess but not doing so well. She 's moved into the house and is supposed to be paying rent but not doing that on time. And something happened a few months ago and DCF was called and they have gotten involved and it has meant a little more support for them but I don't think much. Then his mom went out of town for a wedding either all day or over night and left my cousin's son by himself, he's 12. Someone found out and reported that to the police/DCF and he was taken out of the home and into respite care and in order for him to go back home he will have to have someone there with him when ever his mom isn't home. That has to be paid for by someone in the family. Not his mom since she doesn't have the money, I think Mom said she'd take money from my cousin's life insurance to pay for this but I'm not 100% sure how it's going to work. Apparently everyone is doing everything they can to keep him out of foster care. His only other relatives are his 2 half sisters, one who is in high school and the other who is only 18 or 19. He has also stopped responding to Mom's texts or phone calls. I'm guessing he might feel abandoned but there isn't much Mom could do except move down there and she wasn't going to do that. It really sucks.
