Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Since it's all based on 2019 taxes (ie pre-pandemic), ND and I don't qualify for stimulus. Alas.
That is such a gap, and a great reason why means testing everything isn’t great.
That sucks, Pix.
I found another pattern of dishes. I thought they were newish, but 70s it seems. [link]
Bummer, Pix
Cute plates!
Those are super cute!
Pix I thought that if your 2020 income was lower you could eventually get the money when you file your 2020 taxes? (Which is why I was/am nervous I’ll have to pay back the stimulus I did get, since my 2019 income including several months of unpaid leave was much lower than my 2020 income)
We didn't file our taxes on our 2019 income until June of 2020 (rather than March, because COVID was so bad here until then, we were afraid to), so the first round of Covid relief was based on our 2018 returns.
2018 was an oddball year for us in which we made a lot of money, because DH was laid off, but he got a new job quite quickly, and still got good severance from old job. And that money is long gone. It went to tuition, etc.
When we filed in June, we were told they'd recalculate based on our 2019 taxes, but they didn't. When we checked with the IRS, they said they weren't doing it, but we'd be able to [I don't know the right word -- report, claim -- something] it when we file our 2020 returns in 2021, and we'd get some kind of tax credit.
Now I'm worried we're not going to get this Covid relief either, because they didn't send it the first time. We qualify. 2019 was a shitty year for us, for income, because I didn't work. I had taken time during Christopher's illness and surgery, and then just sat out. (And in 2020, COVID hit and I just didn't bother.)
IOW, we could really use this money, as small as it is.

Is that a thing they've said they'll do, mear? That seems as wrong as us not getting anything after we filed in 2020.
2021 is nice so far. My HORRIFYING SKIN INFECTION OF THE FACE has cleared up and no longer frightens small children. We got take-out spicy fried chicken from our favorite place, Gus’s, for New Year’s Eve, which felt quite festive. Back to school tomorrow, virtually.
Best of all, we discovered accidentally by driving by, one of my favorite stores, Cost Plus World Market, only a few miles from here. I thought they were only on the West Coast, so I never even bothered looking to see if one was nearby. Once again I can browse foods from many lands, cheap but adorable earrings, excellent kitchenware and flowy bohemian clothing.
