Oh, Pacey! You blind idiot. Can't you see she doesn't love you?

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

meara, I hope it works - our heat pump is getting mended Thursday (it's not worked since midsummer, so we didn't have air conditioning, either) and we've been all right, but I don't want to go without for too much longer.

And welcome home, Daniel!

Coding and Sleeping

I can see the temptation of not voting in my county if it weren't for ballot measures. I knew going in that the Republican would win in every case.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I still vote just to be the opposition voice when I know I'm outnumbered. If nothing else, it may help my preferred candidates with fundraising in the future.

All my candidates lost, but at least the four statewide ballot measures I voted against were rejected. Unfortunately, the local ballot measure to cut the public library's funding in half passed—something proposed as a vindictive response to the library not canceling their Pride display last year. So if an involved state level politician or certain Bible thumpers should happen to go missing, I was visiting one of y'all and my whereabouts were accounted for, okay?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Registered voters in my county: 174,769
Turnout was 50.34%.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Looks like turnout for my county was 28% which does seem pretty dismal but might actually be higher than usual.

That library thing is appalling, Matt!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Ugh, Matt, that's awful. We hear a lot (as well we should) about school libraries being targets for book challenges/bans and harassment, but a lot of public libraries are having to deal with this shit too.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh Matt, that is awful. At least my county always does well on funding schools, arts, libraries, and such.

Matt, you were with me the entire time. We had a great day at MoPOP (we went to this, it was amazing) and a well bundled-up walk along the waterfront.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Ugh, Matt, how infuriating and vindictive and petty and spiteful and you were definitely visiting us here all along.

Turnout in SF is currently around 31%, but they're nowhere near done tallying up all the mail-in ballots, so it should go up quite a bit. It damn well better, because that's embarrassing.
