I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

I hope it was just a passing bit of ick for Miley.

Today there’s an open studio tour for the local artists’ guild. I swung by my favorite potter and got to tell her how much I enjoyed last year’s purchase (and buy a few more things). My usual tour buddy is neck deep in political work this weekend. Luckily the tour will be open next weekend, too, so we’ll go around then. I just didn’t want to miss out on things by the artist who’s work I collect.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's warmer in NY on 11/5/22 than it was on 6/5/22, and is on track to be the warmest Nov 5th ever recorded. Ugh.

In small victories today, I ran out of ways to fuck around on the internet, found some loose academic motivation between the couch cushions, and worked on my masters project for a whole hour! Sadly it is now lunchtime which will likely derail me for the rest of the day, but my annotated bibliography is now significantly more annotated than it was this time last week.

Compassionately intolerant

I'm so glad to hear that Daniel is home! Yay for rest and revitalization.

Same for Miley. Here's hoping for calm bellies and gentle snoozes. Bartleby used to have gastro issues every 3 weeks, for almost 4 years. It is no kinda fun.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, this is freaking me out and I don't care for it tbh.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It's been one of those days with Mr. S. At least Gary's home now.

It was 75 here today. That's bonkers. Also pretty fucking windy, with 50 mph gusts. I keep expecting a tornado.

It got up to 80 here (NC) today. No matter what you may have heard about the south, that’s not normal November weather.

It was sort of cool (high 50s to high 60s) here today, but that's still unseasonably warm for Arkansas in early November. I had to turn my air conditioning back on last night when the thermometer was creeping toward 80° at bedtime!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

It was crazy windy here yesterday. Power was out for a bit and I have done pretty massive tree limbs down. One that is about 18 feet long and somehow fell standing upright. Thankfully that tree is down at the waterline away from the house and I had the rest of the trees trimmed last fall.

We’ve also acquired an extra canoe somehow, loaded with paddles and fishing gear. No idea whose it is. Hopefully they’ve got another one and will come looking.
