My boss said we "had no choice" but to lay people off because revenue is way down from expectation, and that part is true but we are already so lean from attrition and previous layoffs that claiming we are trimming the fat seems ridiculous. We are losing muscle mass and have been for a while, to strain the metaphor. If he tells us that this layoff supports our 3 Year Vision I may scream.
Ugh, -t. I've never been so happy about a bad situation as when a leader at the place I worked at finally said it was time to do less with less. At least he was being honest.
Well, we are still due an official notice from the managing director or the People director or someone, from what we were told this morning, so someone might come through with something along those lines.
Ah, Managing Director sending an email after 5pm on Friday and leaning heavily on "rightsizing". Sigh.
I guess I'll find out next week how we are going to reorganize my particular team. We were almost finished with the last reorg, but the person who was laid off definitely will leave a hole in our planned workflow. Over a year of not really knowing what my job is, I'm so very tired of it.
At urgent vet with Miley. She threw up last night and today and had diarrhea, which I’d normally ride out, but with her diabetes I want looked at.

Still in unpacking mode. And buying mode. Up to 3 deliveries a day! 2 so far today and it is not yet 10AM. Went to the dog park for the first time this morning so Skinner could run with his new friends. (this has been on DH's list but he does beach with his team on Saturday morning) There was a young female red dobie who looked like she was his kid sister.
Miley is doing well so far.

Today there’s an open studio tour for the local artists’ guild. I swung by my favorite potter and got to tell her how much I enjoyed last year’s purchase (and buy a few more things). My usual tour buddy is neck deep in political work this weekend. Luckily the tour will be open next weekend, too, so we’ll go around then. I just didn’t want to miss out on things by the artist who’s work I collect.
It's warmer in NY on 11/5/22 than it was on 6/5/22, and is on track to be the warmest Nov 5th ever recorded. Ugh.
In small victories today, I ran out of ways to fuck around on the internet, found some loose academic motivation between the couch cushions, and worked on my masters project for a whole hour! Sadly it is now lunchtime which will likely derail me for the rest of the day, but my annotated bibliography is now significantly more annotated than it was this time last week.
