I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Separately so as to be able to switch modes in my own mind: happy birthday JenP!

Also, Tim’s meal sounds very much like what I was wanting when I broke my fast on Wednesday (which was essentially All the Food definitely including an Everything Bagel and as many hydrating beverages as are legally allowed. I actually consumed a bit less than that, but it’s what I wanted and strawberry shortcake with strawberry ice cream would surely have helped)

Thanks, -t!

I chose Romy & Michele's High School Reunion for my birthday movie tonight. Still delightful. They are both so great in general, and love them together in this.

my god, David, I'm so sorry for everyone who knew him. Depression is a fucker, and it's so hard for both the sufferer and everyone around them.

I'm glad you had a good birthday, Jen!

Timelies all!

Mr. S fell asleep early last night, which meant he was up before 6 this morning. So we're all tired here.

Man, what a long day. Tim is recovering well, but he's dealing with pain under his right shoulder blade, which makes sense because it's his right lung that they tinkered with. He's getting his pain meds on schedule, but it's just a weird spot for pain that gets better or worse depending on his position. Unfortunately it's really bad when he's out of bed, but being out of bed is an important goal in his recovery. Poor guy.

Tim's brother visited, too, and we ended up talking about chili recipes for a long time, and now I need to make chili. But I'll wait until Tim is home, which should be Monday if everything goes well. Fingers crossed!

The cat, who has *never* been snuggly, has been sitting on my lap whenever I'm sitting. I think he's very confused about why the Other Human isn't around. He'll be so happy when Tim is back.

I hit the grocery store and stocked up on everything I could think of, because Tim will be off work for at least 2 weeks after he's discharged, and I don't want to have to run to the grocery store for something and leave him alone here, at least not for the first week. (I do know that grocery delivery exists; it's just so much easier when I can go to the store myself.) I imagine by week 2 he'll be going stir crazy.

I need to vacuum the main rooms and clean the litter box, and then I am going to sleep as much as I can. (The prednisone for my sinus infection is making it kind of hard to sleep, so it's kind of a toss-up right now whether I'll actually sleep.)

Our wings are not tired.

Bunches of recovery ~ma for Tim. Does murderbiscuit snuggle with Tim? Also, note that chili made today will be super yummy tomorrow if you are restless and want to cook.

I've been trying to make recipes for more servings than needed and freezing the leftovers in individual servings. Working to a certain degree, but a couple issues. First, I plan on leaving in two weeks, so how many leftovers do I really need. Also, my freezer seems to be small.

In related food news, I made a cauliflower soup yesterday made with yogurt, cream cheese, some maple syrup and crumbled bacon on top. It was so very tasty!!

eta: today working with the fresh pumpkins I bought from a neighbor's stand. Making a pasta dish with pumpkin chunks, walnuts, and parmesan. And very foolishly attempting to roast the pumpkin seeds. In the past I declared it too much bother, but they seem to be releasing from the gunk fairly easily.

Not really, but I'm betting that when Tim gets home, Murderbiscuit won't budge from his lap.

I am the opposite of restless. I am so goddamn tired. Chili will be later this week, because I want to be sure Tim's stomach can handle it.

When Tim had his heart surgery, it turned out that the first week home he was very very uncomfortable sleeping in a bed, but at the hospital he had slept pretty well in the recliner in his hospital room. We do not have a recliner, and so he struggled through that first week after heart surgery back at home.

So earlier this week, I asked Tim "shit, should I go to Rent-A-Center and get a recliner?" Turns out that Tim's brother took a recliner when they were emptying out their parents' house over the last couple of months, and he was happy to lend it to us. He and nephew just brought it over, so we are pretty well set for Tim to come home tomorrow. Groceries are in (with lots of easy-to-make food, because I predict that I am going to hit the fucking wall and collapse once Tim's home), house is vacuumed and somewhat straightened up, recliner is in place, and lots of comfy pillows and blankets are at the ready. I just need to give the shower a good scrub. (Once again I need to register my annoyance that showers get dirty. All the dirt is supposed to go down the drain! Sheesh.)

The recliner should help. They are often more comfortable when you are ouchy. Nice that one was available.

For recliner-sleeping, a neck pillow that keeps your head from rolling to the side is also nice.
