You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

My dad's across-the-hall neighbor happens to know my SiL, so now neighbor texts my brother when shit goes down. So my brother texted me at 11 last night "Dad’s neighbor just texted me to tell me that he’s outside talking to the cops because dad called them saying people are breaking into his car and his apartment again."

My entire reaction was to text back "FUCK", take an Ativan, put my phone on silent, and go to sleep. My coping mechanisms are shot. And this is on top of my long Covid fatigue being the worst it's ever been for the past 4-5 days in a row. I might have to make a blanket fort and cry in it later.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Those sound like appropriate coping mechanisms to me. Ativan, silent phone, blanket fort, crying - all good. I would like to make you soup.

Virtual soup is not my best, but you are welcome to it!

I'm still thinking about soup, and wondering what kind of soup I can rustle up for dinner. Maybe potato-broccoli soup.

Our wings are not tired.

Appropriate response. Soup sounds good. Just about any kind of soup. Mmmm soup.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I do have the last remnants of a roasted chicken and I typically make soup when I do because the carcass makes such good broth. It's not really cool and inviting for soup in SF, though, as we're having a glorious Indian summery day. But my chicken/lemon/garlic/orzo soup is soooo good.

I'd run the last four days but decided to forego it this morning. So I went out early and got a coffee and a little muffin sized frittata (Ham/Swiss/Jalapeno) and walked the Panhandle. Then picked up a fresh strawberry Berliner at the German bakery and sat down to eat it in the park, on the base of a statue in the shade.

There I met a woman who was out walking her cat on a leash. A very pretty slim orange tabby boy, adolescent and curious. He came over for finger sniffs and allowed me to give him some head rubs and strokes. His name was Arrow, and I said "You and Your Arrow" and she acknowledged the name came from Harry Nilsson.

On my way out I also met a sweet black lab puppy, who was tied up outside a plant store and munching on a leaf. When I greeted her she rolled over on her back for belly rubs. I declare this an A+ day of neighborhood pet encounters.

Bird colors I have spotted in the last couple days: Bluebird, Yellow finches, Black Ravens, and Green squabbling Conures, chattering as they swooped low over the dogs in Panhandle.
