Saffron: But we've been wed. Aren't we to become one flesh? Mal: Well, no, uh... We're still two fleshes here, and I think that your flesh ought to sleep somewhere else.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Jesus fuck. My dad called the police again last night for his hallucinations, and I was trying to sort that out this morning when I got the news that there's an active shooter situation happening right now at the high school my friend works at.

I could visualize your adrenaline spike.

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

I could visualize your adrenaline spike.

Still not back down to baseline, because I have to sort out what's going on with my dad. I think he needs to be in an inpatient psych unit for a while.

Good lord, Tep, what a morning! Your assessment sounds right, I hope you can get there without too much wear and tear on yourself in the meantime

Jesus, Steph. Way too much.

My dad's across-the-hall neighbor happens to know my SiL, so now neighbor texts my brother when shit goes down. So my brother texted me at 11 last night "Dad’s neighbor just texted me to tell me that he’s outside talking to the cops because dad called them saying people are breaking into his car and his apartment again."

My entire reaction was to text back "FUCK", take an Ativan, put my phone on silent, and go to sleep. My coping mechanisms are shot. And this is on top of my long Covid fatigue being the worst it's ever been for the past 4-5 days in a row. I might have to make a blanket fort and cry in it later.

Those sound like appropriate coping mechanisms to me. Ativan, silent phone, blanket fort, crying - all good. I would like to make you soup.

Virtual soup is not my best, but you are welcome to it!

I'm still thinking about soup, and wondering what kind of soup I can rustle up for dinner. Maybe potato-broccoli soup.

Appropriate response. Soup sounds good. Just about any kind of soup. Mmmm soup.
