Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
The contractor is here and the agenda for today he told me is "demolition" and I can hear it already.
It's just going to be like that for the next couple weeks. Oy.
(Our decorative balcony doesn't drain properly and it has caused dry rot in the garage door frame so the balcony needs to be fixed with new drainage and the garage door frame ripped out and replaced.)
At this point it feels like 90% of all home maintenance is dealing with water that got where it wasn't supposed to be.
Fortunately, unlike the window restoration, this project should stick pretty close to its timetable, as our contractor has blocked out the calendar and there's nothing fancy or exotic needed in the supplies.
Also, we're awaiting a visit from the Geek Squad to put in a new motherboard on our new but not working TV.
Blah blah house maintenance blah.
Coincidentally, my DH is suffering through a bout of pancreatitis at the moment.
Yikes! Poor puppies and humans.
My friend had to have her gallbladder out after pancreatitis and now she can't have the fatty foods.

That sounds right.
TVs that need motherboards, what a world!

Leaky basements, I curse you.
The long Covid fatigue has been exceptionally bad for the past week and a half. I'd like a new immune system, please. It's pretty demoralizing. Or depressing. Or another d-word.
Sending the healing~ma to JenP's DH. Painful maladies suck.
As do fatigue causing maladies! Sending stamina~ma to Teppy.
DH hasn't suffered any fatigue and is going stir crazy. He has done laundry, did dishes, worked in the yard, and did office work work. I may draw a little line on his test when it does come back negative.
I remember when ND was in the hospital and how really deadly serious it got whenever DH's flares up.
Yeah, I had acute necrotizing pancreatitis and as you all know it was no joke. Thankfully it didn't develop into chronic pancreatitis which does happen in some folks.
I've been following a Youtuber who bought a house. In the beginning she was all excited about the renovation/restoration she was planning to do. But then she starting knocking out some walls and finding water damage (and the bugs that come with it). And then week after week, it just got even worse. And worse. Like most of the support beams are completely rotted out and it's amazing that the house is still standing.
She's well past the point where anyone else would have given up, or done a complete teardown and rebuild, but she keeps plugging away at it.

What a nightmare! Fortunately California requires a thorough inspection report by the seller so we knew what needed to be fixed going in.
One of the selling points? Previous owners did
full copper repipe!
Which was a double win because (a) we wouldn't have to worry about the plumbing and; (b) they'd been in the walls fairly recently and there were no scary rot/black mold/bug issues.
Update: the balcony and railing is quite demolished.
Which was step one.
In more productive news: Our new TV works. Geek Squad came in and replaced a power element it was up and functioning in ten minutes. Only about six weeks after if went down.
I hope dogs and Husbands heal from pancretitis quickly.
The sale of Mom's house fell through and she had foundation issues that led to mold and mold remediation and it's just become a thing where she's now trying to figure out how much more money she needs to pour into the town house before she can sell it.
I'm dreading work tomorrow, we have some really big corporate visit. I only know it's big because 1)we have all been reminded to follow the dress code and especially dress nice. 2) there were ppl here from other stores working to get things set up for Xmas etc. Everyone gets stressed out when this happens.
Oh Great British Bake Off is streaming on Roku Channel (therokuchannel.roku.com) it's the first 7 seasons-with Mary Berry and Sue and Mel!
