thanks, dcp, for reaching out
You're welcome. It was so weird to get the card back the first time, marked "no such address" when I knew perfectly well it was a valid address. I just put it in a new (larger) envelope and sent it out again with the exact same label. I'm glad it got to you eventually.
As side effects go, I'm pretty sure exhaustion is one of the easiest to deal with, but it is the real deal, I tell you what.
Yep. Rest when you need to. Stay hydrated. Stay nourished.
I forgot to take my meds with me to work this morning, so once I was done with the morning meetings I packed up and came home, will finish the day WFH and get back to the "normal" routine tomorrow.
Not a disaster, and an easy recovery, but still an embarrassing lapse.
It looks like we weathered the weather as it shouldn't be more than 72 in SF today.
I'm off to a Fancy Lunch this afternoon with a friend, after doing my run this morning and JZ and I handling a Zoom call.
I managed to spill my coffee all over the neighbor's steps on the way in the door this morning (post-run) so I'm seriously caffeine deprived.
I’ve got to figure out when to get my 2nd shingles vaccine. I should have done it yesterday.
Boo hiss. Sick today. Started a bit yesterday. Sore throat, coughing, stuffed up, a bit of a fever. I took some cold stuff. Tested negative, but staying isolated. Sunday evening was the first time in years I was indoors with a lot of people partying and I fear it was a mistake. Really annoyed because we have been so careful for so long! Not pleased. A bit of it's just a cold ~ma would be grand.

I got my 2nd shingles shot a couple of weeks ago, and I had a huge* itchy sore welt for about 9 days. I am a damn delicate flower. Although I didn't get any flu-like symptoms, so that was nice.
*("Huge" = about the size of an egg in diameter. It was crazy.)
Laura, fingers crossed for a plain old cold that goes away quickly!
I didn’t have any issues with the second Shingles one.
(You can really spot us over-50s in the vax convos haha)
I hear flu might be bad this year so I’ll get that soon. I’m trying to understand the recommendations for the new Covid. I’ve heard that with the most recent variants fading it might be wise to time it for a few weeks in advance of any big expected events or get togethers instead of going for it right away. But I don’t know when those will be I’m not that well organized!
Yeah, I think the riskiest thing I'm doing is the Florida conference (and flights) in two weeks, so that was my reasoning. And got flu shot because I was there.
For some reason, I was wimpy and they felt hurtier this time, but it was fine. Now I'm lighting a candle in hopes of not feeling crappy tomorrow.
The shingles shots both messed up my arm something fierce. I think I did also feel pretty bleh and flu-ey but the arm is what really sticks in my memory.
My PCP's phlebotomist is the absolute best. I've never had a bruise from him taking blood, and the vaccinations he has given me only hurt if I pushed on them. He is bat shit crazy in other ways, but the man is brilliant with a needle.
