I feel like I can't be all relieved and happy about it until I find out how it will actually work, but in theory yay!
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Hey, I won the ice cream trivia thing over zoom that I wasn't sure I would even go to. I don't think I win ice cream, though.
And that's the last of my meetings for today - seven scheduled for tomorrow so that will be fun. The downside of going on vacation is coming back, for sure.
I hope the meeting produces good results for you and your brother, Steph.
And I'm glad more student loans are being forgiven. It's a good start.

Neither one of us can get him on the phone to tell him he has an appointment tomorrow, which is both hilarious and maddening. My brother said if he can't get ahold of Dad at all, he's just going to show up at his apartment tomorrow at 10 and tell him they're going to the appointment. (I'll meet them there; the doctor's office is basically in between my place and Dad's -- 9 miles east of me and 7 miles northwest of Dad.)
Can't even make that easy, eh? SMH

Sometimes he's out in the garage working on his truck (allegedly), and sometimes he really is out running errands, but mostly his TV volume is cranked up to an insane level. Like, however loud you're imagining, it's louder than that.* So he doesn't hear the fucking phone when it rings, even when it's right next to him.
My IBS is flaring so goddamn badly right now. I really hate all this.
*(If you have a conversation with him in person, Dad doesn't have any notable hearing loss, so the working theory about why the TV is so loud is that he's trying to drown out the voices of the hallucination people.) (Yes, this whole situation is very sad. He's an asshole, but I don't want him to be mentally ill, or have an organic brain disease, or whatever it is that's causing this. I do feel bad for him, at least about this.)
Timelies all!
I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this, Steph.

Its no magical fix of course, but this might be helpful, Tep [link]

We were talking about that! (Also wondering if we could rig up an electric shock whenever the phone rings, because we are also bad kids.)
