That sounds fun, Laura.

We had a good weekend with some friends thrown in, and tonight we're having dinner with another friend whose good friend is visiting from Paris -- she's an acquaintance of mine, so it will be fun to see her after 30 years.

Now I'm going to go "work from zoom" with my buddy, Dave. I have many things to write today, so wish me muses, I guess.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Everyone finds their home.

A consoling thought.

Muse-ma!

Today is Amy Garvey's first day on her new job, so wish her easy orientation.

I was just reading the NYT piece on the B-52s who are doing their last tour (they're not retiring as such -just no longer doing tours. Which is fair considering several of their members are in their 70s). Just a fantastic, queer, talented batch of party weirdos who came completely out of left field and made a lot of people happy for a long time.

I knew that Ricky Wilson & Keith Strickland had been lovers in the early 70s and then best friends by the time the band formed. I didn't realize that Keith was the only person that Ricky told he had AIDS, and even forbade Keith from telling Cindy Wilson (Ricky's sister). So heartbreaking.

Really a series of unlikely miracles that they came together, that they were an immediate hit, that they survived Ricky's death, that they hit mainstream commercial success. Here's to the people that put on wigs and dance around at parties.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Well, we’re in Buffalo now. Went to the Toronto Zoo before we left. Of course, Mr. S was more interested in stuff that cost extra, and had a mini meltdown when he found out he couldn’t do the rope climbing because he was wearing flip-flops. Sigh…

Waiting for the bus. I don’t think this option actually saves me any money (pretty sure it used to, but that was 5 days a week with a monthly pass and going 2 days a week the monthly pass is not cost effective) but it feels more responsible, so I’m giving it a try. Annoyed at the signage not making it all clear where the bus I want will actually stop, and very unclear how to pay (there’s a new app option since I was doing this last) but both of those will get sorted out shortly.

Hahahaha I still don’t know to pay because it’s free but I already bought and activated my pass. Oops.

Our wings are not tired.

Hmm, I hope the bus was found and that you have been delivered to your destination.

I've made an excursion plan for Thursday and Friday with DH, #1, and GF. We'll head from here toward Vermont going over Lake Champlain on the ferry. Then staying at a lovely inn at Stowe VT with hot tubs, fire pits, and even a basketball hoop. They claim a heart hot breakfast too. On the list are the Ben & Jerry's factory, Vermont Teddy Bears where they make them, and a dairy farm to see cows and cheese being made and of course sampling said cheese. Quick 2 day trip, but likely filled with activity. Looking forward to it. Of course I have to work both days, but hopefully things will be calm.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

On the list are the Ben & Jerry's factory

Oh! You'll be right down the road from Cold Hollow Cider Mill, which has the best damn apple cider donuts EVER. It's about 2 1/2 miles north on the same road that Ben & Jerry's is on, like a 5-minute drive into Waterbury Center. Definitely worth a stop. If you have time, Cold Hollow Cider Mill also has a hard cider tasting room, and their hard ciders are excellent.

I also wholeheartedly recommend picking up some chocolates from Lake Champlain Chocolates, which is in between Ben & Jerry's and Cold Hollow Cider Mill, on the same road. (It's Vermont, and Waterbury is small, there's really just the one main road.)

(My brother worked in Waterbury for years, and I visited often enough that I knew all the fun food/drinky places to go when a person is in town. And the Ben & Jerry's factory tour is definitely fun.)

Hard cider is one of my favorite things, and it is likely better than the stuff my dad made! Not sure if we'll be able to do the B&J tour because it is booked up, but we'll try. We'll at least stop and do the ice cream eating. Taking notes on the other stops! Thanks.
