"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I encourage everyone to keep testing negative.

I was really hoping to get another booster before traveling next month, but the last thing I read was that the updated omicron boosters will probably be available sooner than they thought, so they won't authorize the current booster for people under 50.

Our wings are not tired

It was one of the few benefits to being in the over 50 crowd.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Now that I'm past the 90 day window post-COVID, I'm going to get tested at work every week.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

We're still at 2x/week. I had my first COVID test stress dream last night. They kept handing me tests that already showed positives to use, and I kept arguing that they wouldn't be valid.

I'm too late, but: Talyn!John on Farscape was incredibly emotional.

Lexa on The 100 was nearly a fandom-killer, since it was a case of "kill your gays".

Early on in my fannish life: Robyn of Loxley in Robin of Sherwood: Michael Praed wanted to pursue a film career, so they killed him off and then brought on a new "Robin" played by Sean Connery's son Jason. It turned into a neat thing, because the showrunners got to explore both origin myths for the Robin Hood figure (one where he's just a forester, one where he's the son of the Earl of Huntingdon).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm too late, but: Talyn!John on Farscape was incredibly emotional.

I did consider that one.

Our wings are not tired.

They can always handle deaths like they do in the soaps. No one is ever really dead, sometimes phoenixed multiple times! And when the actor has to be replaced they come back after amnesia and a bad accident involving facial reconstruction. Then again, if they love the actor enough they come back as the long lost twin. They don't even bother with the no body no death rule, as apparently there are drugs that can make you appear dead before you are revived later by the nefarious enemy/friend in the secret dungeons. This is part of the entertainment value to me for soaps. No real emotional tie to either character or actor to bring on the tears. It's easier!

Our wings are not tired.

Poor DH, had the lease signed, deposit wired and all that, then the condo board rejected my dog. DH should have lied and said he was a mixed breed since with his floppy ears they wouldn't know he was a vicious dobie. Very sad, but back to the drawing board. I wish he would come here for the summer, but between basketball and his inability to focus here his visits tend to be short. Looking at a 14th floor condo right on Ft. Lauderdale beach tomorrow that might be a good option. Not sure he can park his truck there though.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The guy was killed in an auto accident! I looked it up! He was driving in the Yukon, in a pink convertible, to visit his brother who's an ex-con named Frances, when a tractor trailer comes along and decapitates him. You know what that mean, it means he doesn't have a head. How am I suppose to write for a guy who doesn't have a head? He's got no lips, no vocal cords. What do you want me to do?

Oh, that's such a bummer, Laura! Fingers crossed for finding a good option soon. Hope the Ft. Lauderdale beach place works out.

We decided this morning to do a spontaneous weekend getaway! Shenandoah Valley cabin (with requisite hot tub), innertubes and canoe on site, and we're finally going to do Lurray Caverns on the way home.

Immediately, I'm like, wait, how do two people in innertubes get back...? I don't think I have an answer. Starting to understand why you book a guided trip.

But anyway... yay, getaway!
