I'm a single undead gal trying to make it in the big city. I have to start somewhere and they're evil here. They don't judge. They've got necro-tempered glass. No burning up. A great medical plan, and who needs dental more than us?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Glad y'all have a place to live, Laura! And time to find the right boat or house or whatever.

Yay having a place to live Laura!

I have to go look up this video of him running away. I did see someone post a pic of a mug from him and said it needs a lid for when you’re running.

Also, apparently my dad lost his hearing yesterday??? My mother emailed us (my siblings and my dad’s) to say he’s suddenly gone deaf. He already only had one working ear (the other he lost the hearing in decades ago) and only has one eye. And then he woke up and now can’t hear at all??? They’re trying steroids but yikes. His remaining eye isn’t so great either!!

Oh, that sounds rough on your dad, meara! I'm sorry he has to deal with that.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh dear, meara. I hope they are able to resolve it. What a surprise.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hahaha no I definitely meant 100% but now I’m laughing too.

I'm just going to start telling people I agree with them 10% from now on.

Hope that's quick to rectify, meara! Scary. My dad had macular deterioration late in life and that made him so depressed and isolated.

Oh, my gosh, meara, he must be in shock. Sending all good vibes his way.

It was already hard for him to do much of anything—he’s not very mobile at all, and had limited hearing and eyesight. But jeez, not sure what he’s going to do if he’s deaf!! He can’t listen to his baseball games! (Though as my sister pointed out that also means he can’t listen to Fox News) guess they’ll have to figure out how to zoom his computer screen big time.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I hope it’s a temporary thing, meara. Like an infection.

I temporarily lost most of my hearing a few years ago when both my ear drums mysterio burst. It was isolating in a world setting (although awesome at work at the time, made the days 97% better). I thought I liked the quiet but it turns out I like the quiet when it’s by choice.

I hope there are some options for your dad.

My Mom is still getting mail from a Catholic organization because she went to University of San Diego. I’ve called before but finally snapped on my voicemail today. I asked to have her removed because dead, explained I didn’t want the mailings because I wasn’t Catholic, neither was she and ended with asking that if they couldn’t stop mailings, please just change the address. To anything else.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Goodness. I hope your dad regains hearing in the previously working ear, meara.

ETA: That apartment looks very nice, Laura. I love the balcony.

Our wings are not tired.

Of course there is a maybe 15 page lease, 14 pages of which are standard contract nonsense and I am not concerned. It is a condo building (just 15 units, but still condo) so there are like 4 different deposits. Landlord security deposit, Elevator security deposit, Pet deposit, and Common Area deposit (which is from the condo association). Anyway, it is written Common Area Fee. Words matter, and a fee is not a deposit. It has taken me 4 emails to say this different ways and they finally have said, oh you're right, we'll change the wording. At least they finally understood why I balked.
